I toured Longview, an Ithacare Community. They have activities. When you look at the schedule, they have something going on every half hour, which I enjoy. You could pick and choose. The rooms are outdated and too small. They have restaurant-style meals where the waitress comes and takes your order. I liked that idea. The main thing that appealed to me was they have a special program because the price is so high. They take the veterans' payment, too. The lady who gave me the tour was nice and okay, and the people I've talked to make another appointment to come back, they're all nice.
My relative will be moving into Longview, an Ithacare Community. They have a lot of services and a lot of activities for the guests, so I think that's great. They also have a partnership with Ithaca College. They have shuttles to concerts and other cultural events at the college, so that's awesome. There's a trail that they can walk on with their dogs. It's a nonprofit, so they had just started a moderate-income program, which is helpful for people who don't have a lot of money. So those are all great things. I don't have anything negative to say. My relative hasn't moved in yet, but it seems like it's going to be great. The rooms are efficiency style. There's a bedroom with a big bathroom with walk-in showers. There's a small cooktop and a dorm fridge. I think their food is good. Every day there's a long list of activities. They have clubs, games, and shuffleboard in the hallway. They have a small pool, and they have exercise classes in the pool. They also have a small exercise room, so they offer fitness classes. The staff are great.
I've been here many times to visit over the years. I have always found it to be pleasant. They have many activities and facilities available. Among the activities are a weight room, a large indoor pool, a greenhouse with many plants and a very nice dining hall. I've also eaten here many times and the food is always excellent. There's a large variety of foods as well. You get an amazing view of Cayuga lake that is always beautiful. They have a really decent waiting area. In this waiting area inside the building they have finches in a large cage. They take good care of them. Any staff I've ever met has been very courteous and most helpful. I'd feel completely comfortable here and I have no qualms about my parents spending time in this wonderful place.
We moved into Longview, an Ithacare Community. We love it here. Everyone here, from maintenance to the CEO, is friendly, helpful, and available. They offer a lot of activities, but I haven't participated in anything. I get a weekly newsletter and there's just all kinds of things like jigsaw puzzles and movies. They also have a chorus and a quilting group. There's an affiliation with a Longview College and we can take courses over there up to nine credits for free. Our apartment is just really lovely. It is spacious and comfortable. There's a washing machine and dryer right here. The bedroom is a nice size, and we have a nice, large master bathroom. We have a good size extra bathroom and a good size second bedroom. There's a library, a movie theater, a little store that's open certain days for certain hours, and you can get things like postcards, Kleenex, pens, and pencils. The library is well-maintained, with a good variety of fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, and the daily newspaper is available there, too.
As a resident of Longview for almost three years now, I wanted to talk about how I feel about living here. I am very pleased that I made the decision to move here. I really like the activities that I can be a part of, as well as being able to interact with the other residents who are living here as well. It is great to be able to share my life with other people. I enjoy the food that is served in the dining room and I am so pleased that I am able to participate at Ithaca College who is a partner with Longview. Working with the staff has really been great. In addition to what happens at Longview, I am able to participate in the activities of Ithaca helps immensely. I definitely would recommend moving to Longview and becoming a resident of a very good senior community. I strongly recommend that you come here yourself and see what I am talking about. I hope to see you become a part of Longview in the future.
The Longview organization and community has served my parents extremely well for over 6 years. Multiple levels of care have allowed my parents to stay together and partake of the great programming and association with Ithaca College. A fantastic place to age in place!
I rented and furnished an independent living residence there. As it turned out I did not sleep there a single night or have a single meal there. It cost me thousands of dollars and I complained to the NYS Attorney General’s office. Got me nowhere. The place is under direction and operated by the Geriatric Dept. of the college across the street. They use it as guinea pigs for their program. As a result the operations, instead of a professional property management business, it is administered by a bunch of bubble gummers. It didn’t take me long to discover that they made up their own rules as they went along, did not honor their previous commitments or even established rules in their literature. No one is held accountable. CEO did nothing. No agency you can turn to. Soul killing as far as I am concerned. Unless you are good at denying outrage, avoid this place.
