While the rehabilitation section I would rate as above average, the Long Term Care facility is horrible. Here is what $538/day gets you,... Once they wake the patients up, they bring them to the common/eating room for a simple breakfast. Then they wheel them into the hallway so they can sit and stare at each other and the walls for a couple hours, then its back to their room until lunch. Lunch and what follows is the same as the morning (eat, hallway, room). Then comes dinner which I've seen bologna sandwiches served at times, or sometimes a cheese sandwich, then its back in the hallway till…

Once they wake the patients up, they bring them to the common/eating room for a simple breakfast. Lunch and what follows is the same as the morning (eat, hallway, room). Then comes dinner which I've seen bologna sandwiches served at times, or sometimes a cheese sandwich, then its back in the hallway till bedtime. There is no rehab of any kind, nor are there activities. They have a woman with a guitar play and sing in the common room for a half hour or so 2-3 times a week. This is a county run facility and the staff are some of the highest paid in the state. some of the staff have expressed their unhappiness to me about the way things are run, but nobody seems to be able to to do anything about it. Incidentally the medical director drives 2 Bentley's. They claim they dont make a profit and operate at a lose,... gee, I wonder why. This is a place for people to wither an die. My mom has no remote for her TV because one of the other patients stole it and its still hasn't been replaced after 3 months. I brought her clothes to wear and clearly labeled them, and yet I often see other clothes on her and the labeled clothes are missing. I brought soft toilet paper for her, and 2 days later, the same cheap scratchy toilet paper is in her bathroom. When she had a cellphone, i found calls to Puerto Rico in the history (we dont know anyone in PR). They dont help them brush their teeth everyday, and they get showered once a week. My mother use to be able to walk with a walker, but they dont allow them to walk in LTC. Nobody is willing to help them do that, and they dont allow patients to get out of their wheelchair (fear of lawsuit if they fall without help). When you go there for the first time, they'll put on a show for you, but that's not how life is there. There is a big room where they play bingo near the lobby, but they don't take any of the patients in the memory ward there. They dont even take them outside for some fresh air,... EVER! It's sad, how we treat our elderly is severely broken, and there are a few people making a whole lot of money the way it is.
My 91 y.o. mother was there for 2 weeks for rehab. The ppl that work there were ALL so nice and were very caring and compassionate to my mom. The PT and the OT really made a difference and she was stronger when she left. Also the food was good too. Some meals were even homemade 😊
My mom is in the best place and I thank you for it..
My mother was sent here by ambulance from Garnet. She is 81yrs old, 90lbs 5ft and very frail. She refused a shower and they manhandled her to standing, stripped her and used cold water to wash her. Told her "it wasnt cold" and kept right on after she kept telling them no. Inappropriately touched her. Did not give her her pain meds when she asked for them (She has severe rheumatoid arthritis of the chest), threatened that no one would pay her bills if she signed out AMA, and then when she finally did try to sign out one nurse refused to call a taxi for her. My brother and I dont live in the area, and she just wanted the whole incident to "go away" but I would bring charges if she would let me.This place is worse than a prison, dont let your loved ones go here!!!
My mom stayed at Valley View Center for rehab. It's just like an older facility. It could have used some fresh paint. The staff is very good. They took good care of my mom.

former CNA at Valley view . This place is not a place I would place my love one in . For this to be state property is disgusting . Wholes in the wall in the dementia unit a unit that was not shown to future employees , the sad neglectful care residents receive .Cant state that CNA weren't good but most were careless. I was let go due to my own medical condition of vertigo . However, they don't fire those who fall asleep on the floor while on the clock . I was on my break when i passed out and no one cared to search for me i was in the premises , i left the unit because if i took my break on the floor the other cna instead of being responsive to call bells or bed alarms she would ignored them . I would attend to them while on break. Clothing of residents with names would be stored in other patients closets I spent an hour removing clothing out of a patient closet which clearly wasn't a small nor name matched. Zero star and what they don't state in the orientation day or prior hire is that they can fine you if you do not sign up for back up if someone calls out and also you cant call off for a whole year .It didn't matter if a emergency occurred or anything. I know people lie to call off but, hard workers that take their career and duties don't jeopardize their income with foolishness.
Valley View Goshen NY is more like an institution than care facility. After visiting loved one it is clear that this place in not for anyone who needs compassion care. Sad and depressing.
