Staff in the EHU is exceptionally caring and seems to always have time to speak with me about my loved one. I have only eaten the food a few times and it was what I would expect in a school cafeteria. It could also be that I am not used to the dietary restrictions others may have in the EHU. Also for the value for cost, while Glen Arden is a value now, our family is concerned about future affordability.
The staff is friendly and responsive especially in the EHU area. The nursing home has its challenges but they all do. In both the nursing home (dad) and EHU (mom) they provide excellent care and lots of activities.
My Mother went to Glen Arden to rehab for a fractured pelvis and partial hip replacement in August 2023. She didn’t receive much PT due to her weakened state and Glen Arden’s lack of staffing. During this time they gave her a catheter as they didn’t have enough staff to take my Mom to her restroom. The catheter wasn’t cared for, my Mom developed a horrible UTI and when we asked the nurse on duty to please check because we saw that something was very wrong she said she would after she finished her reports. The next day the tube and catheter hadn’t been changed and at this time we had to rush…
The next day the tube and catheter hadn’t been changed and at this time we had to rush her to the hospital. Her intake as reported by the Emergency Room doctors was that not only did she have a horrendous UTI but she had sepsis. I hope that others are not being treated as wantonly as my mother whose organs were shutting down due to the sepsis. By the immediate administration of antibiotics and fluids my mother slowly recovered. It took 10 days and our love and the nursing care at the hospital for her to recover. Glen Arden needs to guarantee in coming patients the staffing and care that they require before accepting them into their care. If you are considering this facility for your loved one please make sure that the current staff members are able to meet their needs. Thank you, Beth Mukamal DePiro
Used for rehab after my dad's open heart surgery and the place was horrible. Would not recommend for after surgery rehab. Some staff was great but the running of the facility was lacking in management and caring for the patients needs. Expect it to be a few days for care actually be addresses
I am writing this review for my new arrived 70 year old cousin who is unable to care for herself, but still able to live somewhat independently. Moving is considered a major stressor for any of us; however, for those in cognitive decline, the process is scarier and more confusing. My cousin moved into the Enhanced Housing Unit (EHU) since it provides a more structured, hands-on level of care. She loved the look of Glen Arden, much like an upscale hotel located on a beautiful 41 acre tract of rolling hills. She is receiving compassionate, professional care in an active community with exercise, movies, and many other things to do. One big plus is the facility has a transport van so residents can get out and about if they choose to do so. The Admissions Staff goes above and beyond to help ST settle in. The clinical Staff are all communicative and easy to work with, and since I am out of town this is important. Definitely worth a visit if your family needs this.
Terrible! It does not look like this at all. A friend Dad is there, and I stopped to visit and bring him some goodies. I entered and walked to his room. No staff was visible. He had been sitting in a hard chair with one leg that had recently been amputated below the knee, and his other leg was hanging down, which had been ambutated at the foot. HE HAD BEEN SITTING LIKE THAT FOR 4 HOURS AND WAS IN EXTREME PAIN. THE BANDAGE HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED FOR 2 DAYS AND HE WAS PAST HIS MEDICATION DOSAGE TIME BY 2 HOURS. CRIMINAL IN MY OPINION.
My MIL is in the assisted living unit. The aides and housekeeping staff are stellar! Her room is always clean and the aides are attentive and always available if she needs a bit of help. She is very happy and content there. Susan and Bill Taylor
What we like the most about Glen Arden is the size of our loved ones room, it is large and based on the experience we have had so far we would recommend this community to others
