3.3 · 8 reviewsThis not an assisted living for one they barely honor valid requests. This organization help who they want to help and the clients they do pick and choose to care for they rarely foresee any real results or follow through. I would never recommend any one to live here. The level of progress is bare minimum. To call this place an assisted living is just another form of labeling and stigmatizing without properly evaluating the goals and purposes of each individual and consistency. I believe the housing staff is not professionally skilled or trained to deal with each person on a much needed basis…

The level of progress is bare minimum. To call this place an assisted living is just another form of labeling and stigmatizing without properly evaluating the goals and purposes of each individual and consistency. I believe the housing staff is not professionally skilled or trained to deal with each person on a much needed basis pertaining to life skills out of the realm of their own personal abilities in my opinion. There aren’t real resources put in place or available to encourage realistic self sufficient housing for individuals who are capable and willing to reenter an independent state of being. I could definitely say this is equivalent to a dead end job position with no promise of advancement or promotion.
I was at the WayBack from 1997 to 1999. I was going through a multitude of emotions at that time, and had anger and emotional issues. the staff was OK at the house, sometimes supportive, sometimes not, but I don't think that they were particularly interested in helping the clientele, they did the minimum requirement no more no less. They tried to assist with CBT, but for whatever reason I have only moderate memories( mixed emotions) about the staff and their desire/ willingness to improve the consumers lives. On top of that, I was attending the Stony Brook Day program which did not help me in any way shape or form, either due to my own situation at the time or the fact that I was poorly placed. So, a mixed bag I hope with research advances and improved medication techniques this can become a better functioning place. 3 stars.
