St Catherine's replies reach.out to.patient advocate , which is the biggest joke!! The absolute worst treatment there is zero patient advocacy at St Catherine's rehab !

I was in St Catherine’s Rehab for a broken leg for 3 weeks during Covid. In isolation and no visitors. I didn’t have Covid and had been vaccinated. The nurses wouldn’t answer when you rang for them. I had to call my husband in the middle of the night to call the nurses station. She came in and told me I had to wear diapers !! All I needed was for her to walk me to the bathroom. She put a diaper on me and put a pile of diapers on the dresser. I got myself out of bed torn the diaper off and threw all the diapers into the hall. They were horrible there. I got a walker to go to the bathroom but…

I am so disappointed with this facility and how people are ignored. My family member has been in this facility and has to wait two hours for someone to come when he needs assistance and hits the button. He has been asking to be showered for a week and they have yet to do it. How do you not shower people?! It’s a basic human need and they don’t give their patients the dignity of getting a shower?! He is so depressed being here after coming from another facility that was so much better. Unbelievable how patients are treated here and it’s very sad honestly

My Aunt was there for therapy, I was told that it was ok that she didn't have shoes on, that the slipper socks was good enough. Not once did they ask for her shoes that were in the bag from the hospital still in the closet. That she refused therapy, that she needed a lift to get in and out of bed. Not saying she wasn't a little lazy but myself and the weekend PT person had her standing and walking. Instead they would rather let her lay. When she arrived to her new facility in PA, she had 2 level 2 bed sores, upon examination she also has a level 3. The therapists were rude, and when we had a family call I asked why my Aunt wasn't included they said she wasn't in her room. Where would she be? I'm so glad I moved her sooner than later. Run far.....this is not a place for your loved one.

I was admitted to St Catherine's rehab on the first floor of September 19. I stayed in the rehab until my Medicare ran out and the minute it did they moved me to the third floor to a nursing home without even my wound being healed yet I encountered patients with dementia, drooling on themselves in a circle watching TV all day screaming the staff at this facility is probably the best I've ever encountered but at the same time how do you ask a nurse to take care of 22 patients by herself the old patients to staff is 20 to one do not send your loved ones here if they're going for a rehab only do not let them leave the first floor ever the staff on the first floor is phenomenal just like everybody else in the building but the administration here likes to abuse their staff mary Sue the director has one nurse on the third floor for 40 patients one nurse for 40 patients. Do you want to leave your family member under that I didn't do so well at the end because I started speaking up but you'll be seeing my name on news 12 in the next couple weeks for what they did to me and that's a whole of the story I can't wait. I currently have an open case against Saint Catherine's with the New York State Department of health they will be investigating all my claims this upcoming week, they assured me most likely making a visit to the facility Like I said the staff here is phenomenal. They're overworked and put in situations that are illegal and violate patients rights every single day I was doing so well my first three months there until they moved me into a nursing home upstairs and a rehab patient in a nursing home situation. I didn't get any rest. People are screaming all the time. What a terrible experience this places it should be shut down just like all the other ones. If your loved one is going to the first floor and you're under the care of Ali Tara and all them down there and the evening shift with Val and Jen they're all great people. All the staff there is amazing. They are just really stressed out and overworked to the max.

RN and CNA who are trying to change my mother's dressings are standing over her arguing with each other. Very unprofessional!!

I have mixed feelings about our experience at St Catherine’s . My father was there for a year and a half . My family and i visited a couple of times a week . I’ll start off by saying be prepared to be gaslight by the medical staff . I knew each time my father had an infection . I could tell by his demeanor. For example I would be told he was tired because of the weather and a week later he would be in the ER with sepsis . Another example is getting a full body rash and mistakenly being treated for shingles when we knew it was an allergic reaction to a genetic medication . Again winding up in the ER and spending a week in the hospital . Mind you he was only sent to the ER after we demanded he get medical treatment. Other infections included numerous UTI’s and two more battles with sepsis. He was also again hospitalized for an improper insertion of his Foley catheter hitting his prostrate and causing internal bleeding. Thank god I was there at that time he probably would have bleed out in his sleep . He was over medicated and dehydrated . We later read he was given 3 types of laxatives daily even on a puree diet . In order to fight off all these reoccurring infections he had to be put on strong IV antibiotics which isn’t healthy for anyone but because of his will for life he was able to pull threw . Unfortunately the last was too strong . He had Mrsa in his bloodstream from cross contamination probably threw the foley and sadly he passed away . Ironically i just read a review from this month of a patient saying they were moved from my father’s unit into isolation because of Mrsa . All it took was one incompetent member of the nursing staff to take his life after 9 days in ICU . On a positive note there are some good people that work there . The ladies at the front desk were always lovely and helpful . He had two wonderful aids that we could rely on . Bessy and Milindy . They both really cared about my father’s wellbeing . I always felt better knowing Bessy was with my dad and I’ve never seen a person work harder than Milindy . She ran the whole floor by herself and when she wasn’t there the place was chaos . She really should be praised and I can’t thank her enough for her care. I have some negative incidents that happened with other aids but it’s basic nursing home care that happens everywhere My father also had a very nice private room that was always kept very clean RIP 🙏🏻
