My husband Kevin has been a resident at Silver Lake for the past 3 months. He has vascular dementia. I can’t say enough about how wonderful everyone is who works there and I mean everyone. Everyone is friendly, helpful and they go out of their way to make sure Kevin is happy. Everyone knows his name and my name. I am so happy and grateful for this place. I know that Kevin is being taken care of and loved by everyone there.
My loved one has been transferred to this nursing home, and I Must Admit, that prior to his transfer, I was Nervous based on on our experience with his previous nursing home, which was Split Rock. A few months have now passed and without wanting to be overly excited (the first Couple months) I must say that this is probably One of the best nursing homes. As for the people that have reviewed it poorly It’s truly unfair. My personal experience is that everyone in there has made it they’re sole purpose to create a homey environment Filled with love and care.. I’m still in shock Of the Compassion…
I’m still in shock Of the Compassion and the care That the staff provides. It’s not glitzy fancy, however A true Home is never a fancy appearing one. They focus on well-being and health . Starting from top to bottom, it feels like they have created a community for the people that need to be there and their primary goal is to make people well.. I have not had a piece of mine for the past year(While my loved one was in the hospital and then Split Rock ). Since he has moved to Silverlake I feel like it’s just family taking care of family. My brother is in need of respiratory care and I am so grateful they provide that. The improvement that he has made is unreal and almost like a miracle. Right when we lost Hope they gave it back to us. I also wanted to point out how the staff Is one step ahead Of our loved one’s Care. Our experience from other nursing homes (Even hospitals ) was that everyone would wait till last minute until it was almost too late To take action regarding his health. Here even when they suspect something’s not going well, they act on it so it doesn’t escalate. So to the people that left the negative reviews, I recommend You take a look around and get a reality check and stop complaining about cookies. These people here are on a mission and are literally saving lives. They Will treat your loved one as a human that matters And not only will they care for them physically but also mentally. Providing 360 care is the most essential and very rare to find anymore. Ps we visit almost every day, and I could guarantee There is NO foul smell like one of one the reviews has stated. Honestly, I applaud the people who run and are in charge of this facility and of course, each and every one of their staff. Whoever is In charge of this nursing home sincerely cares. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication. You and all your stuff are true lifesavers.
I have grounds for such an assessment.
The amount of mice they have in this facility is unbelievable. I came to watch someone overnight who lives in a group home and counted seven different ones running through his room. I did not want to put my feet down not to mention the ones that run in the hall all night long. I could not wait for the shift to be over. The amount of mice that run around under the patients beds is just sad to be making all this money and have an uncontrollable rodent problem like this is insane.
I had an issue i felt was important to discuss with administration. I was told director of nursing was not there but asst director was there...this lady acted like she didn't even see me...never spoke to me to resolve anything and just told someone to tell me "she's busy". I don't know what's wrong with her and this may be childish but id be angry too if i looked like a gremlin that never seen the sun. If you hate your job get a new profession instead of being unprofessional. Other wise experience was OK, but she definitely left me with a bad taste.
I had a very negative experience during my recent visit to here. I was visiting my mother and unfortunately, my encounter with one of the nurses, Melissa, was incredibly unpleasant. She was not only rude but also extremely condescending, short, and passive agressive. I tried to address my concerns by reaching out to the administration, but despite waiting for what felt like an eternity, no one came to speak with me. I am left unsure if the issue was ever even communicated to them. It’s disheartening to have such a poor experience in a place that is supposed to provide compassionate care. I hope that the management takes steps to address issues like this...everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, and unfortunately, that was not my experience. I was initially going to give 1 star but then i visited again later in the evening and the staff were going out of the way to assist me so due to that i gave 3 stars I truly hope that others do not have to go through the same.
This place is filled with miracle workers . Lois at front desk , awesome.
While there are moments of fulfillment in caring for residents, the workplace culture leaves much to be desired and resident priority and safety is questionable. They are extremely understaffed which is a patient safety issue, when new staff come in , administration allows other staff to bully and scare them off. "LPN"S (Licensed practical nurses" often act beyond their scope of practice. They are given positions that they are NOT CLINICALLY or LEGALLY PERMITED TO DO but they act is if they are " RN's registered nurses" which is very different in care that is legally permitted to be provided. This part needs to be reported to New York State nursing board because LPN training and education is very different from RN and this can turn into a huge patient safety and legal issue. For example of patient safety issues....Over the time period that i was there.....there was a resident that was falling, repeatedly, almost daily and NO PROACTIVE plan was put in place to decrease the residents falls. They didn't even give the individual a medical work up to see if maybe the falling was stemming from a serious medical issue such as a brain tumor or etc....I bet you this resident may keep falling until he cracks his head open then they will just try to cover it up and pass the blame because that is their favorite form of care, no proactiveness just reaction and passing the blame.... unacceptable!!! I truly pray for that residents safety and protection from the angels because he wont get it from the staff. Extremely toxic environment in particular on the day shift. There’s a prevalent lack of professionalism, with hatefulness and favoritism creating a toxic environment. Poor customer service often goes unnoticed by administration, I witnessed an LPN repeatedly talk to down to residents and family members with nothing to be done because she is "friendly" with administration. Leadership, including the assistant director of nursing and the director of nursing, often prioritize covering for each other and their unqualified LPN's over addressing issues or fostering a safe patient environment and supportive team culture. This environment makes it challenging to focus on providing the best care for residents and unfortunately puts residents at risk. Unfortunately, i despise to say this because I don't like to talk down on anyone or anything BUT i must WARN and share my experience from a providers perspective who sees the inside workings of this facility....I would not leave a family member that I loved here. Read "other" reviews that are not 5 star...those reviews are the real reviews. Some of the staff here are destroying the reputation of nursing and destroying the reputation of the facility. I've never met the actual owner but I've heard that they are good people but unfortunately their staff are giving them a bad name. Hope this helps someone.
