I was sent to PRNC for "pulmonary" rehab, for which it is not equipped. The staff attempted to create a space and I did benefit aerobically in my 5 or 6 days there. That said, it was a nightmare. They were chronically understaffed, a revolving door policy was evident in my short stay, half walking around clueless. Generally 3 did everything. Call lights rang for hours. To say the food was a tragedy is an understatement. No lie they served a version of stone soup, that was so pitiful it was funny, I actually wrote an "Ode to the chef".. one small carrot cube, a fragment of a cabbage leaf old…

To say the food was a tragedy is an understatement. No lie they served a version of stone soup, that was so pitiful it was funny, I actually wrote an "Ode to the chef".. one small carrot cube, a fragment of a cabbage leaf old murky broth. It was an odd day if something edible came along, mostly dog vomit with rice or pasta. Anyway, I ordered out. This diet is not life sustaining for anyone. Food can often be the final good sensation. The quality is important physically and psychologically, the ritual. A more holistic approach could offer cognitive and physical benefits. Food is the foundation. Also trust, I wasn't here for an hour and all the items that my husband packed, clothes ect, were lost. Just vanished. In summary, I would strongly advise you find a nicer atmosphere for your loved one. The stoic staff also deserve this. The failure lies directly in the hands of management and ownership. Greed.
My wife clothing I dropped off and the person they have answering the phone could not figure out how to connect me to my wife's room and hung up on me when I called back. The staff seem caring and nice but they are all overworked with that deer in the headlights look. So far after 2 weeks I give them a C.
The Adult Day program is fabulous!! Patti, the director is the best and the nursing staff is compassionate and very helpful.
Do not send your loved ones here! This place is a nightmare. My grandmothers clothes all went missing on week 1. Her cell phone went missing a few weeks later! And now her purse and wallet are gone as well! We filed a police report! Every time we have gone to check on her she looks unbathed.
Do not let your loved ones go there! I have been in the medical field since I was 23, I am 41. My father spent a week sedated and on a ventilator. He was in the ICU in VT and then at CVPH. He has gotten better but not great and was transferred today to Plattsburgh rehabilitation and they ignored his medication orders and he had been telling staff for over an hour that he had to urinate. They told him no and then put one of those plastic urinals on his window sill just out of reach. I called CVPH to ask about his discharge medication and sure enough my father should have been getting nebulizer treatments every 4 hours. He asked for them and again was told no. I will do my best to get my father out of there tomorrow!
I just called to see if the cna class they had was available and how I could go about applying. The car was a typical check up on the application type of situation, but I was told by a lady named Michelle that just from talking with me on the phone I wasn’t CNA material all because I was just trying to find out if my name was overlooked would I be able to apply again
What a great place. When my Dad arrived there more than 2 years ago our family felt great because of how understanding and compassionate the whole staff was. That feeling has not changed. If there is ever a problem or concern, things get done and the response is right away. Anytime a question comes up, I call or send an email and it is resolved. My Dad is in a great place with my wonderful people both the residents and the staff. As they say, about every organization, when it is good or bad, it starts from the top of staffing and goes all the way down to all the others. Elena Vega-Castro the Administrator has been NOTHING less than understanding and helpful and that is carried down to everyone that works there. She sends out letters each month informing us of what is going on from special events to on going issues (such as Covid). If you ever need to place a loved one at a nursing facility, this is the place to go in Plattsburgh. I assure you that once your loved one is there, you know you did not make a mistake and will have lots of support and understanding from all who work there and live there.
My mother, Mary, enjoys the day service very much. It gives her a chance to socialize, and she has close bonds with many of the residents. The workers have also been very helpful in watching over some of her problematic health issues and call me with any concerning findings. Without the day service I dont think it would be possible for my mom to remain self sufficient. Blessed to have the support.
