I’ve recently had the experience of transitioning my mother to the Samuel F. Vilas living community with relative ease and personalized support. Of course it’s been a big adjustment but the professional one-on-one responsive attention we received from staff and especially her case manager, Jenn King has made the experience seamless and pleasant. My mother is settling in nicely filling her days with meals she looks forward to, activities she enjoys and friendships she’s making. The staff was amazing, so wonderful and caring. My family member loved the Vilas Home. She felt safe and at home. Which was so important to us as her family. She stayed in the main area and eventually transitioned to Memory Care. I would highly recommend Vilas Home to anyone seeking a warm, safe and caring facility.

Before she passed my mother lived at Vilas Home and we could not have asked for a better place for her. The staff is amazing, the facility is beautiful and the activities are abundant. My mother loved all of the things she was able to do as a resident and our family loved knowing she was safe and happy!
When one can no longer be in their own home this is a very comforting, pleasant, safe environment. The staff are second to none in their manner of caring for the residents. They are so kind, polite, and caring it’s obvious they respect and take pride in being with your loved ones. Plattsburgh is blessed to have this totally updated facility to help meet the needs and challenges of the growing population that can no longer reside safely at home.
Unfortunately, I made an appointment for a tour through the “automated secretary“.When I got there, no one was aware that I had an appointment. However, Mr. Prue gave us a spectacular tour, and the facility is absolutely outstanding.
After touring several assisted living facilities, we chose the Samuel F. Vilas Home for my dad, and we couldn’t be happier. The staff genuinely care about the residents, and the proximity to CVPH is a huge bonus. The home’s rich history gives it a unique character, and the residents seem genuinely happy.
We are so pleased with the care my father receives at the Samuel F. Vilas Home. The staff always keep us informed and treat him with dignity and respect. The activities and social opportunities have improved his quality of life immensely.
