Very professional. Janine knows and cares about the job she does and her clientele. We were very impressed at all we saw. Beautiful grounds. If only there would be room in our life time.
Transitions are rarely easy, however, moving to Fairhaven has been a blessing. Despite harrowing weather and the complications involved with an out of state move, my standard poodle and I felt safe, secure and very welcome from day one. Neighbors invited me to dine with them, join them in activities and otherwise become involved in this very family like community. I feel as if everyone here wants me to be as healthy and happy as possible. They live up the their motto: Where Loving -Kindness Lives.
I'm deeply grateful for the care my mother received during her time at Fairhaven living facility. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that the staff approached their work with genuine compassion and a strong sense of responsibility. They didn’t just meet her basic needs—they went out of their way to ensure she felt comfortable, valued, and truly at home. What stood out most was the respect they showed her every single day. They took the time to learn her preferences, her routines, and even the little things that made her smile. Whether it was helping her get ready in the morning,…
Whether it was helping her get ready in the morning, sharing a conversation, or simply checking in to make sure she was comfortable, every interaction was handled with patience and kindness. It never felt rushed or routine—it felt personal. The communication with our family was also exceptional. The staff kept us informed, answered our questions with honesty and empathy, and made sure we felt involved in her care. Visiting was always a positive experience because we could see firsthand how attentive and engaged everyone was. There was a warmth in the environment that you can’t fake—it came from people who truly care about what they do. In her final days, the level of dignity and gentleness they showed meant everything to us. They created a calm, supportive atmosphere and ensured she was as comfortable as possible. Just as importantly, they extended that same compassion to our family, offering reassurance and understanding during a very difficult time. Knowing she was surrounded by such caring individuals brought us an immense sense of peace. I wholeheartedly recommend this facility to anyone searching for a place where their loved one will be treated with respect, kindness, and genuine human connection. The staff doesn’t just provide care—they provide comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging, and for that, I will always be thankful.
Don't send your family members here. It is a house of horrors. The management and workers are uncaring and incompetent. My sister had cancer and developed a blood clot. she was sent here for treatment of the blood clot. We thought this was a good place. We were wrong. A couple of the workers brought in the covid virus and killed my sister along with an undisclosed number of other residents. We tried to sue them but the state passed a law where nursing homes couldn't be sued for covid deaths. My sisters husband was also at this place. A huge mistake. He fell one night and was in pain. These people just put him back in bed. They didn't have a doctor check him. He was in so much pain, he had a relative call an ambulance for him. When the ambulance arrived they discovered that he had broke his back. He was hospitalized and had surgery. We got him out of this place. By moving him, these people could have paralyzed him. Luckily this didn't happen. I don't recommend this place for anybody.
If you are relatively healthy and expect to live at least another 5 years, stay away from ACTS communities. Beware of superficial appearances and do not trust anything you're told that isn't in writing. Take note that your contract is full of loop holes that ACTS can use to change things regardless of residents' recommendations. ACTS wastes money on window dressing and unneeded group activities, when the infrastructure is deteriorating, individual medical services are being curtailed or eliminated, and residents in assisted living and long-term care are living in in hospital ward-like rooms. Also, remember that Marketing is not going to tell you about chronic issues and complaints from existing residents. Talk privately to residents in the type of unit want and who have lived at Fairhaven for more than a few years -- not just the residents you are introduced to by Marketing.
We went to Fairhaven. We really loved it, but it was $8,000 a month plus other expenses. It's lovely. It offers everything. We really wanted to be in that area because our grandchildren and our son lives in Eldersburg. Our daughter has a place in Ocean Pines, too, so we're trying to get to where it would be good for everybody. Fairhaven was topnotch. It was immaculate. The food was very good, too. The dining rooms were beautiful. They offered a lot of activities and stuff like that. They had a golfing range, and my husband loves golf. The woman that gave the tour was excellent. She knew everything, and she did her best to try to get us there, but we didn't have a whole lot of equity. Everybody was very friendly. We met some of the people there, and we toured the apartments and the cottages. They also have villas. The villas are for people who are 55 and over, because they're like big houses, and there's a lot to them. However, I don't want all that.
I have a friend who lives at Fairhaven. I like the friendliness of the people I've met, and I like that you can have a meal any time, day or night, without waiting in line for the dining hall. The two-bedroom apartment is a little cramped. I would need to buy new furniture if I were to move there because most of my furniture would not fit. However, I like the variety of activities. I like the fact that even though it's Lutheran-based, they celebrate other holidays, and it doesn't feel like it's just an afterthought. I like the fact that they have a woodworking shop. My husband could spend a lot of time there because he likes to work with his hands. I also like that they have an on-campus art studio. It's very well thought-out. There are a lot of activities and lots of nice things. However, it is extremely expensive. The buy-in is very high, and the monthly rent is also on the high side. The dinner portion is enough for three meals. What my girlfriend does is she takes most of it up, and she has it for lunch the next two days. The food is very good and very delicious. I like the bistro where I can get a hamburger, a slice of pizza, a salad, or a sandwich at 3:00 in the afternoon. From what I've seen, my friend is happy and satisfied, so I assume she's getting what she's paying for.
Live here happily. Great neighbors and staff.
