Clean and professional. From the receptionist to the caring team, everyone was pleasant. I will highly recommend this office/location if you need immediate attention or if you are in the area!
My sister was a resident at Cobble Hill for 2 1/2 years until her recent death from cancer. In her last months the staff was so kind and tender with her. Honestly, it was like a family embracing her. I’m very grateful.
My dietitian Janet Brown is great. All my CNAS and nurses are caring and take such good care of me! I really appreciate them. Recreatiankeeps me busy and entertained. Physical and occupational therapy is spectacular.
I have been here several years. When i have a concern they get back to me right away. I really enjoy the activities. I especially enjoy bingo. The nurse linda is terrific. Miss drachen and miss Wilson are all great nurses.
My Aunt, Nancy, has been a returning patient at Cobble Hill. My husband & I live in Florida and the social workers do an amazing job keeping us informed. Nancy has made great connections with the staff and although she may fuss on occasion the team walks in with smiles asking warmly how can they help. A big heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cobble Hill. You have a very difficult job and we truly appreciate all that you do.
I have had several very bad experiences with 3 nurse’s aides on 4B. My mother is here temporarily for rehabilitation. I retired from my RN career 2 months ago to care for my mom. I spend 10 hours a day caring for her at Cobble hill. My mom lives with us and when discharged, will come home with us. I change, her, clean her, assist with her lunch and dinner. They do not provide aide care while I am here. I am here from 10am to 8pm everyday. I rarely come out of the room to ask for anything. The first experience was with an Aide named “Masters”. I asked her about missing clothing(that we took down to be labeled). We waited 1 week before even asking for it. She replied “the person whose labels clothing is very busy, so when she is done, you’ll get it”. I then asked her if I could help by picking it up myself and she sternly said “like I Said, you’ll get it when it comes up. You are not allowed to get it. I went to speak to the RN and the aide began yelling loudly to interrupt what I was asking about. The nurse told her to stop but she continued. The nurse and I moved to a quieter area and spoke about my concern. Meanwhile my mom was wearing clothing that was from the donations and her pants kept falling off. The RN Ms David intervened and later told the aide that she could not speak to a family member like that. The RN called the labeling room and we got the clothing within 20 minutes. The 2nd incident was that I found my mom with double diaper. Both diapers were so urine soaked that they were reaching her knees. I asked an aide and she said she had changed her “an hour ago”. I explained that that could not be accurate. She became louder and stated, “are you calling me a liar?” My mom looked disheveled, she also had sneakers on with no socks. The nurse and ADON were present and witnessed it. I changed my mom to a new clean diaper and socks. The ADON said that she needed to inservice the staff on 4B on pt care and customer satisfaction. 3rd incident was today. My mom said she wasn’t given breakfast and was very hungry. I spoke to the nurse and she side that my mom’s assigned aide stated that my mom didn’t eat. Since it was lunch time, we went into dining area and I asked one of the aides by the name of “Nanna” if she could prioritize the serving of my mom’s lunch”. She ignored me and kept doing what she was doing. Another aide asked if they could prepare my mom’s tray but Nanna did not want to do it and told that aide to put the tray back on the rack. I was forced to ask the RN if she could help me with this matter. The RN in training asked Nanna to do it. But it still did not get done. Then, because of the delay, the Floor RN had to go ask her and stated that the pt had not eaten and that I was asking for her food. The aide Nanna said loudly “I don’t care”. The nurse and other aides were telling her to stop the confrontational and argumentative behavior but she continued. I stated to her that I would have to report this and she replied “You go ahead and do that!” The rehabilitation department are amazing, accommodating, very proficient and so professional. My fear is that some of these aides may still continue provide very bad care to my mom. If it wasn’t for the rehab department, we would have transferred to another facility. We are very disheartened by this. Sincerely, A very concerned daughter
Visited for first time a friend’s family member. Saw many employees diligently doing their work. Impressed that so many dropped by to say hello to patient and were extremely helpful and kind. Patient appears happy and content; that’s what’s important.
Taking a minute to write this review because I know how hard it is to decide on a facility for a loved one, especially in the midst of a health crisis. My 95-year-old father fell and broke his hip, and after surgery we decided to send him to Cobble Hill for rehab. This wasn’t his first stay at CH - he was there for three weeks two years ago recovering from a nasty bout of pneumonia - and we decided to return because what we learned the first time is that CH is a well-run facility with dedicated staff and really excellent occupational and physical therapists. No nursing home / rehab center is going to ever get it perfect, but after touring several (and a really lousy stay he had a few years ago out in Ditmas), we felt comfortable with Cobble Hill. I’m glad we did: once again the physical and occupational therapists were outstanding and dedicated, and most importantly his social workers (case worker Angie and the head social worker Natasha) were great communicators who were compassionate and thorough, and that’s super important in any of these places because you WILL have to advocate for them to get what they need. The staff doctors and nurses at CH were generally great. The aides were a mixed bag and that’s going to be the case anywhere - some were absolutely wonderful and some were callous and absent, but they’ve got a tough, tough a job. Nighttime incontinence shift or cleaning up after ornery, combative elderly patients suffering delirium will tax anyone. The food is, well,…it ain’t the Four Seasons but it’s nourishing and better than public school lunch. One thing that helped on this stay is that we pushed for (and were granted) a single room for my father, which was essential because, with his dementia, a roommate's nonstop TV audio would have made rest impossible. That may not always happen but it was important to us and I’m grateful they obliged. Anyway, I definitely think this is one of the better places around.
