I had a few concerns after my SIL was admitted to Carmel for short term rehab. I was pleasantly surprised when Cassandra phoned me today and all my concerns were addressed and cleared up. She was professional yet understanding and compassionate. Carmel was everything we hoped and lived up to its Gold Standard of care. Today I am completely comfortable knowing Carmel in SI NY is all they say they are online. I can breathe again knowing my SIL will improve greatly in Carmel’s care. A wonderful facility with caring, compassionate, attentive staff, the heels not just one’s body, but one’s mind one’s soul the care and concern that they have for us as patient encourages us to get better and she wants to get better quicker. It really truly has helped me heal the occupational and physical therapist Are fantastic. They do not back down. My mom has been at Carmel Richmond for a little over one month, and our experience has been excellent from the very beginning. The management team has been helpful, responsive, and caring throughout the process. The nursing staff and aides have treated my mom with kindness, respect and compassion, and they have been attentive to her needs. It's reassuring to know she is in such good hands. We are grateful for the care and support she is receiving.

Our family is extremely grateful for the care and compassion that the staff at Carmel Richmond have shown to my aunt When she first moved in, she was struggling with depression and had a very difficult time adjusting to her new circumstances. The staff never gave up on her. Through their encouragement, patience, and genuine concern for her wellbeing, they helped her regain her confidence and become involved in the community. Today she is thriving and has even become the President of the Residents Association-something we never could have imagined when she first arrived .Seeing this transformation has been remarkable and is a testament to the dedication of the nurses, aides, therapists, activities staff, clergy, and administrators. Thank you to everyone at Carmel Richmond for making such a positive difference in my aunts life. Sincerely Jeanne Logan

My mother was admitted over a month ago. We’ve had bad experiences with the last two but this one has been absolutely outstanding. From the staff to the social worker it has been a wonderful experience. I had a phone call to discuss her care and brought up an issue. Within 1 1/2 hours the issue was resolved. It is so wonderful when the people you’re talking to really listen. My mom is on the third floor and everyone from the nurses, OT,PT and especially the aids, have been so compassionate towards my mother. She’s a handful my family and I appreciate the patience! It’s very comforting to know she’s in good hands. Especially love having OT pushing to get her back on her feet! The renovations they’re doing are beautiful!! Thank you so much for everything!!

My husband was recently discharged from SIUH Seaview Ave.where he was being treated for various health issues including neuropathy of the legs which prevented him from walking. We were advised to place him in a rehab facility where he would have OT and PT. This was the path to be taken in order for him to walk with a walker and return home. We did our research and decided on Carmel Richmond after taking a tour of the facility. This choice was a big mistake. He was placed on the 3rd floor. The staff was oblivious to his needs ie; emptying the catherer he needed or even inept at putting it on him. Many times he missed the important PT and OT sessions because his pants were wet. He.was told to remind the staff to empty it!! Isn't that their job? When he was in pain and needed medication it took forever for someone to come to his room and say "I'll be right back" and then take forever to return. "I'll be right back" was the answer to all requests. He was advised to use the bed pan as they were short on staff and couldn't take the time to help him to the bathroom. Unacceptable! Doctors visits were short and didn't leave time for any questions he might have. The food was terrible. I could go on and on. His neuropathy worsened because he couldn't get to all of the PT and OT sessions he needed and his overall health gradually deteriorated to the point that he was sent back to the hospital and then unfortunately on to hospice care. The first thing he said when he was transferred from the hospital to hospice was "I'm not back in Carmel am I?" He passed away on March 28th. So take the words of a dying man seriously and do not choose Carmel Richmond for your loved one.

My mother is in there for rehab and I can’t say enough about everyone that works there. The rehab is great everyone that has worked with her is amazing I can’t name every person but they are fantastic. Now she is on the 3rd floor and Phoenix, Loni,Latoya and all of the other people that I forget to name are the most amazing people with such patience and treat everyone with such dignity and respect is amazing they deserve to be paid well they are overworked and I believe underpaid. Now the nurses Eddie, Rick and all of the other nurses that I forget to mention are so amazing and have such patience and empathy and compassion for their patients and they have quite a few patients they are also overworked . I think that they all should be given something special for the job that they do every day. The 3rd floor definitely needs updating. The room where they keep the ice should get an ice maker so they don’t have to bring ice in a tray from the kitchen and leave it in the tray the could also have a little bigger space for the refrigerator and maybe a bigger refrigerator. I would hope to see that all updated. Overall the facility is very good. I hope that the nurses and aides are appreciated by your facility.i have to mention Ryan who is so personable and kind and smiling all the time.

My nana stayed at this nursing home, and I truly can’t say enough good things about the care she received. From the moment she arrived, the staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. They treated her with dignity and compassion every single day, which gave our family so much peace of mind. The nurses and aides were always responsive and made sure her needs were met promptly. It was clear they genuinely cared about her comfort and well-being, not just as a patient, but as a person. The facility itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Communication was also excellent — we were always kept informed and felt included in her care. Knowing she was in such capable and caring hands made a difficult time so much easier for all of us. I would absolutely recommend this nursing home to anyone looking for a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for their loved one.
