3.9 · 290 reviewsThe place is clean. The staff is very nice and helpful. My Mom room look like a hotel prvt suite. Most insurance pays for after care. Yes I would tell others to send their love one's here for after care. Out of 💯 I would give it a 70. IT would be 💯 If the Owner's hired more staff. The staff is very over worked but they still do their job. I go see my mom Alot and I help out when I'm there.❤️
I was remiss in mentioning in my last post Nurse Rose, Jacqueline, Simon Ms. Allen and Toya as also being incomparable. Nurse Rose always exhibited a sunny disposition and would stop by to say hello. Jacqueline and Simon taught me tricks I utilized to accomplish tasks, which typically require you to be mobile and I was not. Ms. Allen always brought me sandwiches and great conversation in the midnight hour. I will truly miss them. Toya who’s going to provide me with the famous birthdays? Thanks for supporting.my book and podcast. I’m outta here!
I spent three months in this facility and when I arrived I was wholly immobile and mentally incapacitated as a result of cancer. The exemplary nursing staff facilitated my convalescence to the extent where I am being discharged in an expedient manner. The physical therapy to which, one is subject is stellar. I am walking again after having been wheelchair bound for three months. Whatever your physical ailment is this is the place to be, Honorable mentions need to be made for Ms. Louis, Clarence, Nurse Roxanne and George as they are all incomparable. This is a horrible facility. My mother's care was atrocious! Avoid this place at all costs! My rating is actually zero stars. I filed a complaint with the NYS Department of Health.
If I could leave zero stars, I would. This place was an absolute nightmare for my family, and especially for my grandmother. What was supposed to be a place for healing turned into an experience that made her physically and emotionally worse. They failed to provide even the most basic level of care. My grandmother’s diaper was not consistently changed , which led to a rash and a UTI. The overnight care was even worse. The nurses were rude, dismissive, and at times outright nasty. It felt like no one actually cared about her wellbeing. The environment itself was terrible. The food was disgusting and inedible, and the staff overall were incredibly rude. It got to the point where members of my family had to constantly show up and monitor her care just for things to be done correctly. The moment we were there, things would suddenly get handled, which says everything. When my grandmother made the decision to leave because the facility was making her depressed, they responded by calling APS. It was clearly done to cover their tracks because we had been actively complaining about the care she was receiving. Instead of taking accountability, they tried to shift the narrative. They also made the discharge process unnecessarily difficult and suspicious. We repeatedly asked for discharge paperwork and were not given any, which was a huge red flag. They ignored her actual doctor, who approved her discharge, and insisted that their own rehab doctor had to sign off. That doctor conveniently showed up the same day she finalized her decision to leave. The social worker, Mr. Fernando, was especially rude and unhelpful. He made it clear that because she was not leaving on their terms, they would not provide any aftercare resources. We were left completely on our own, with no guidance or support. This place felt like it was more concerned with keeping her there for insurance money than actually helping her recover. She came here to heal and left sicker than when she arrived. It is not a healing environment. It is dehumanizing. Please do not send your elderly family members here. They deserve their dignity, proper care, and compassion, and this facility provides none of that.
Let me start by saying that my mother's time at this facility was awful, and if I could give zero stars I would. We had such high hopes after we toured this facility, as the facility looks beautiful, modern, and is kept clean, HOWEVER the care that was given to my mom was horrible. My mom had hip surgery and did not have full mobility, but was conscious, alert, and able to make decisions. After night 1, my mom said her stay was bad, but she would give them a chance to be better but then as the days went on' since she thought maybe it was that person on that shift, it didn't get better, it got worse. She complained about how they did not answer the call bell, and how she had to sit in her own mess until they decided to respond to the call bell which sounded the alarms for my family. The food was horrible and did not match her dietary needs as a diabetic. She said they gave attitude when she asked for help, and it was especially bad during overnights, since we did visit every day and could go ask for help while we were there. For example, during one of the nights , my mom rang the call bell and asked for help because she had wet herself because she had to go to the bathroom but couldn't hold it while waiting for them to answer, and the nurse came into the room and said to her " She just changed you!" , and walked out. My mom then rang the bell again, and about an hour later a different person came in to turn off the bell and said to my mom "she's on break", and she also walks out. At this point, my mom is still wet, and has NOT been helped, she rang the bell again, and the last time, more than an hour later the original person came back and finally helped change her, but not new sheets, just chucks over the wet ones, and she changed her clothes. They kept her with a diaper on instead of taking her to the bathroom or giving her the bed pan, which caused bed sores. Mostly at night, and often throughout the day, she was lucky to get someone on staff that actually cared enough to respond to her care needs. I decided to start working from there to ensure better daily care for my mom. The first day I worked from there, I arrived at 1pm to find my mom and her roommate both asleep in their wheelchairs and their beds unmade. When I asked how long she had been sitting there, and why they didn't make the bed up, the response was "the morning shift was supposed to do it". We were able to get someone to change the bed, and she tried to put on dirty sheets! when I pointed out to her that the sheets were dirty her reply was, "I'll need to see if I can find some clean ones and that may be hard to do". She then returned to my mom's room with cleaner sheets and said that she took them from another patient who also needed sheets. There are so many examples of egregious behaviors that my mother experienced, that it brings me to tears. We ultimately removed her from that facility as we realized that the behavior of the staff did not get better, and it depended on certain staff to be on shift to get help, which should be unacceptable for most managers, but was not. I told the social workers, we are leaving because of the horrible care my mother is receiving, and her doctors and care team has approved her getting outpatient therapy and support at home vs being in this facility where her horrible care is hindering her full recovery. His response, we need to protect ourselves, and we won't give discharge paperwork or be able to help with getting her a walker or any medication if you pull her out now (they wanted her to stay the full 21 days, it was 14 days in). She is doing so much better at home, within our care and her outpatient care. DO NOT Choose this facility for your loved ones. They dehumanized my mom by treating her so poorly in one of the most vulnerable times in her life.
I made a visit to my friend and retired coworker here today and everything was good it was clean and the staff was welcoming and great to my co worker but ill be glad once she gets home to her family
