The Best assistance for your elderly family member very helpful and respectful
YAL is as good as it gets. There are so many caring people there that treat my family like family. Alex is a great administrator and the caring starts right there at the top. The nurses, cleaning staff, and all aides are wonderful. My mother, who is very picky loves the food. All the activities keep her busy. Patrick is always helpful with any maintenance needs. My mother fought me to not go there but is now very well adjusted and happy. Our family would not even consider anywhere else.
Make sure you do your due diligence on this place. We had our parents here and the first administrator. [name removed] was fabulous and so was the staff after she left. Everything went downhill.. we have since had two administrators with the latest one, [name removed] always complaining to residents . everyone is overworked and they are understaffed. You can tell the difference in the staffs attitude. No one seems happy . The activities are basic not very engaging , and the call bell response is now very long. When [name removed] was there, we used to get regular emails, highlighting…
When [name removed] was there, we used to get regular emails, highlighting activities that I loved ones had attended etc. Now it’s very hard to get any answers from staff . The director of nursing [name removed] is very caring but some of his staff are cold and uncaring . This is not an environment for your loved ones to be in. It’s also extremely expensive.. They just raise the rates again and none of the money is being reinvested into the facility. The chairs and furniture are very rundown.
My parents just moved in this past November. I recently asked how they were enjoying YALR. Their response: "Best thing we ever did." 🥰
The food at YAL is exceptionally good, including salmon, linguine with white clam sauce, beef stew, tacos, chicken cutlet. There is a choice of entree at each meal and the kitchen is most responsive to requests. The cost is very expensive, but includes laundry individual for each resident, arts and crafts, live music every week and visits by farm animals. There is physical fitness every day and chair zumba and chair yoga once a week. The resident rooms are cleaned and vacuumed weekly. The staff is not more understaffed than anyone else's, and the staff is kind and dedicated to the residents.
What they promise is not what you get .There is nothing good that I can say . My in laws live here and paying over 12k and very unhappy . The food is bland and un appetizing . We pay extra to have cable , almost 300 a mth , becuase the facilities doesn’t work . The AC and heat are not able to be controlled in their room so they are either super hot or really cold . The activities are sad .. and the nurses are over work and under staffed . Don’t move here . .
I toured Yorktown Assisted Living. It seemed like they had lots of activities for the memory care unit. It was not that clean and a much older facility. They are scheduled for some updates that are needed. The staff was very friendly, very thorough, very personable, easy to talk with, and got honest responses and answers. The atmosphere was so homey and welcoming. The size of the rooms was somewhat small, sort of a college dorm room. Definitely in need of some renovation.
My Aunt moved in several months ago and it required ALOT of moving parts to be coordinated. The Director Melissa was absolutely amazing in helping to facilitate all of this. In the time since moving in my Aunt has transitioned very well thanks to the excellent staff at Yorktown. The aides, nurses, and other staff have made her feel welcome and have provided great care. I am extremely happy we chose Yorktown.
