There may be a select few good people there, but the whole atmosphere and care at the facility is horrible. People are neglected with staff that don't care. Patients are calling for help and waiting for assistance such as baths, restroom breaks, and much more while being force to relieve themselves in place and/or mange pain and tolerate discomfort. Maybe it's bad management, maybe it's just staff that don't care. None of the equipment works or is broken. The staff lies about everything to make things appear good or to protect the image even if its not good. No reason people die everyday or…

Maybe it's bad management, maybe it's just staff that don't care. None of the equipment works or is broken. The staff lies about everything to make things appear good or to protect the image even if its not good. No reason people die everyday or WILL LEAVE WORSE THAN WHAT YOU WALKED IN. I observe for a living as a government employee, but this facility looks ok from the outside looking in, but not the best care behind the scenes. I believe in treating people how you want to to be treated. Getting treated unfairly seems to be the norm here, and hear from multiple people the same. Even the food is not as described. They also do not care to pay attention to allergies like they want you to have an allergic reaction. They totally neglect everything and will even try to get an online doctor to prescribe medications you don't need just to make you worse. For someone who works hard with good insurance, you would think you'll be treated fairly, but get treated like a second-class citizen. I pray for anyone receiving care at these facility. By the way, can anyone tell me what dish this is?
I ended up at The Grand for rehab following a nearly two week hospital stay. Most of the staff were wonderful. They kept close tabs on my health, gave me great wound care, and always asked me how I was doing. The facility was mobility friendly with wide hallways and kept at a comfortable temperature most days. While I couldn't attend them too often because I easily tired out, they offered several activities and chances to socialize. Their activity room is home to two cats. One of them was very shy, but they were well cared for. The big reason this isn't a five-star review is the kitchen staff…

While I couldn't attend them too often because I easily tired out, they offered several activities and chances to socialize. Their activity room is home to two cats. One of them was very shy, but they were well cared for. The big reason this isn't a five-star review is the kitchen staff (silly, I know). I have several food aversions. The menu is displayed every day around the nurse's station. They keep a clipboard where residents can ask for alternatives or alterations, names signed and initials given. They frequently gave me the wrong food. Near the end of my time there, they frequently forgot to give me a main dish at all. The regular staff provided me with alternatives and advocated on my behalf (thanks guys, it means a lot!). My meal tickets wouldn't list a main dish either. I hope whatever error caused this has been fixed. The therapists were especially kind. They worked me hard, but reminded me to listen to my body and care for myself when needed. They really kept me engaged. They would ask how I was doing and if I had any concerns. I hope I don't need to stay in a nursing home again, but if I had to, I would rather it be The Grand in Rome. I miss you guys, but I am glad to finally be home.
The Grand is my rehab facility from March -June 2026. I was really impressed upon arrival. No staff met you at the door and intake was horrible at best. I think the recruitment proceedure needs an overhaul.they should have your meds upon arrival or within 12 hours, or arrange for patient to supply meds till everything is on board. They had no concentrator available so you get a four hour tank for an eight hour snooze They did eventually get another tank. Needless to say I was ready to bolt first chance I got. The floor staff were courteous and helped the best they could. Management diffently needs improvement on intake. I was promised a private room, still don't have one. Now after all that beinging said the nursing crew led by Sarah Salais is professional, respectful, knowledgeable and some of the greatest folks around. The care attendents are all fantastic, the Rehabilitation entire staff are exceptional. Actually everyone on the floor is great, the janitorial members, maintained workers. I haven't seen too much from the medical staff. The finance office should be better knowledgeable of Tricare and Tricare for Life. The patient shouldn't have to call to get coverage information. It would of possibly changed my first few days if a staff member greeted me at the door, took me aside, welcomed me, see if I had questions. Not bring me on drop me in the dining area by nurses station leave me like a stump in the corner give me food with out a word then drop me in room with no instruction. To this day I still have no bracelet. Okay I'll stop, I had to get ir off my chest. Thank you for caring for me from day 3 till now.
The rehab department at The Grand in Rome NY is awesome, the greatest! They care about you 100%. First class all the way! Right from a scratch to a broken bone! Just give time and they will make you fine.
My family member came to The Grand several years ago on a short term rehabilitation stay where he received excellent care from the nursing, wound care and therapy teams! Unfortunately, it was determined that he was unable to return home and required long term care. With that being said, the entire team from Social Services, Nursing and Administrative Services were there to offer support, guidance and care, not only to my family member but to myself every step of the way! He has been under their care for several years and has thrived, not only from a medical perspective but from a social aspect as well! Huge shout out to the nursing staff, especially nurse manager Hillary for her continued commitment and dedication to all of the residents and ongoing quick communication and support to the family members also! Kudos to the Activities Department for keeping it fresh and fun! I am incredibly happy with the care that he has and continues to receive - thank you to all of The Grand Nursing and Rehabilitation staff!
Dedicated staff. Very clean environment. Very attentive leadership.
My mother has been to the grand rehab twice now and both times we have had Sarah (nurse) that has helped us. She is very kind to my mother and has helped a lot. All of the day shift crew is amazing with her. I appreciate them all
My grandmother was a daycare registrant prior to becoming a long term care resident. The nurses and CNAs that cared for her were amazing. Kudos to dietary, rehab and activities as well!
