An Exceptional Place for My Mom — The Bristol, East Northport My 84-year-old mom moved into The Bristol in East Northport in June, and I can honestly say that choosing this community has been one of the best decisions my sisters and I could have made for her — and for our family. From the very beginning, we were welcomed by Paul, the Community Relations Director, Simone, the Director of Case Management and Shareese, the Director of Reflections. Each of them has gone above and beyond in ways that are difficult to put into words. Their professionalism and skill are exceptional, but what stands out even more is their compassion, kindness, genuine love, and the way they care for my mom as a person. Their communication with our family has been extraordinary. They keep us looped in, they answer our questions, they text us, they check in, and they are there for us when we need them — whether it’s a weekday, weekend, daytime, or evening. We never feel out of the loop or like we are navigating this alone. That level of communication gives our family an incredible sense of peace. But the greatest testament to The Bristol is my mom herself. She is happy. She is thriving. She is eating well. She is cared for, dressed, groomed, engaged, and encouraged. She plays games, participates in activities, does art and crafts, interacts with others, and genuinely enjoys her days. And she LOVES the food! The difference in my mom compared to where she was before is truly night and day. I had gotten to a point where I thought, maybe this is just what life looks like now. I thought the decline, the lack of engagement, and the way things felt were simply something we had to accept. Then we came to The Bristol. And I realized it didn’t have to be that way. Seeing my mom happy again has been one of the greatest gifts. Watching her participate, smile, eat, create, engage, and feel cared for has reassured us that we made the right choice. And I would be remiss if I didn’t speak specifically about Shareese and the absolutely extraordinary care she brings to Reflections and to my mom. She is, quite simply, exceptional. The kind of person you hope and pray will be caring for your loved one when you can’t be there yourself. Shareese does everything with her entire heart. Her compassion, patience, attentiveness, warmth, and genuine love shine through in everything she does. She has a way of bringing light into a place that could otherwise feel very sad or difficult, and somehow she makes it feel warm, joyful, and full of life. She sees my mom, she knows her, she understands her, and she cares about her deeply. She goes above and beyond in ways that are extraordinary, and you can feel that none of it is simply a job to her — she truly cares. Shareese is an angel on earth, and the love and light she brings to Reflections is something our family will never take for granted. We feel incredibly blessed that my mom is in her care. To Paul, Simone, Shareese, and the entire team at The Bristol — thank you. Thank you for caring for my mom with such dignity and compassion. Thank you for caring for our family, too. Thank you for communicating with us, reassuring us, including us, and most importantly, for seeing my mom as more than a resident. You have given her a place where she is not simply being cared for — she is living, engaging, and thriving. We are incredibly grateful, and I would wholeheartedly recommend The Bristol to any family looking for a place where their loved one will be genuinely cared for and valued. Our experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

The staff at the Bristal is outstanding. They take care of my mother as if it was their own. The care of the aides and particularly Maria has been more than we could ever imagined. To know your 94 year old mother is surrounded by people that care for as if she was family has provided our family with tremendous comfort. We could not rate the Bristal at East Northport and their staff any higher. Truly outstanding.

I wanted to thank Paul at The Bristal in East Northport for spending time with me and my dad a few weeks ago. My dad was against moving from his home of 60 years. We walked around the community and met other residents and staff. Simone made us laugh and it was a very good experience. My dad peaked in to the Mens Club and met a man named Richard. They chatted for a few minutes. Very Clean community. It really was eye opening for my dad. On the way home he told me that he is ready to deposit and move in the Spring. Thank you to the Bristal for making what I thought would be a difficult…

We moved my father-in-law into the Bristal at East Northport three months ago. He had spent the past two years at home alone after his wife passed away. He is now thriving again. He loves the food and being waited on by the staff. He is a member of the men’s club and also has been shooting pool with his new friend Rudy. This was the best move we ever made. Kudos to the entire team.

A Wonderful Experience at The Bristal! My grandma moved into The Bristal last month, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff for making the transition so smooth. From our very first tour through move‑in day, the process was simple, well‑organized, and comforting for our whole family. The compassion and kindness shown to my grandma—and to us—has meant more than words can say. It’s clear how much care goes into everything the team does. We already feel such peace of mind knowing she is in a place where she is treated with dignity, warmth, and genuine attention. We look forward to seeing Grandma enjoy her time at The Bristal and are thankful to the staff for helping her start this next chapter with confidence and comfort.

Everyone my Dad and our family dealt with, who worked at the Bristal, was a class act. They were phenomenal. Whether they were cleaning his room or giving him his meds or just constantly checking in on him, they were all so kind and thoughtful. I could not have asked for a better, caring group of people looking after my Dad.

My father has been a resident of the Bristal for 5 years and he has been very happy there. He entered the facility with just a walker and being very independent but 6 months ago (5 years after moving in), he had a series of strokes that sent him to the hospital and rehab then back to the hospital and rehab. He showed signs of the first stroke at the lunch table at the Bristal and they quickly called the ambulance and got him right to the hospital. When my dad finally returned 3 months later, you would have thought a celebrity came in! To see the joy on the staff’s faces made my heart happy - I knew my dad was home. Since then, I’ve been with him daily to help him adjust to now needing full care (dressing, toileting, showering, transfers) and the staff couldn’t be more responsive to his needs. Dad’s daytime aide Maria is absolutely an angel on earth and my dad counts on her to help him understand what’s going on since he gets easily confused. She takes care of him like he is her own father and I so appreciate that. There are great activities like exercise classes, word and brain games, movies, art class, men’s and women’s groups, and excursions where they can go to some of the local stores or to outside events. I’m forever grateful to the Bristal for helping my dad live out his last days (however long that will end up being - he is almost 98 and still going pretty strong) in a clean, bright and friendly environment.

Some personnel are kind and skilled but there is a lot of turn over and only a skeleton staff at night. Food is problematic- dishes are given gourmet names but not prepared well. Food is undercooked or overcooked and often unhealthy for elderly people with conditions like heart disease, diabetes or cancer. There is a sole healthy option of chicken but that’s it. Many meal items are from a can, processed and unhealthy. They push ice cream and cake. They sometimes ration popular dishes or run out. As a result meals are bread and butter back in the room. Another issue is the facility itself. It’s beautifully decorated but not with seniors in mind. Abstract repetitive art-confuses residents.Seats are too low or deep and there isn’t a space other than the cold, crowded lobby for monthly music nights. Fire dept calls & water shut offs. The Bristal is quite expensive to live in and corp management must do better.
