I went to a team meeting about my mother's care on Friday where I was assured she was progressing nicely, and by Monday she was dead. She was ill and her condition was not monitored properly. That Saturday night she called me saying she thought she was dying. She had been left to languish in bed with untreated pneumonia. When I went to the facility ,alarmed, on Saturday night, a supervisor gaslighted me- my mother's vitals were fine and she was just " panicking." I've put in 2 calls to the " advocate" which haven't been returned. We'll see what the Department Of Health thinks.

I am reviewing Samaritan summit Village with staff is exceptional. They’re caring and compassionate and take time with their job is a great place to send someone if they need rehab. The issue that I have is that there’s a contract that you sign that says that you receive a shower once a week I don’t think that that should be in a contract I honestly believe that person needs a shower more than once a week. I understand that there’s a shortage of faculty because of Covid however, you have skin breakdown if you don’t have a shower more than once a week. their facilities like prisons and…

I understand that there’s a shortage of faculty because of Covid however, you have skin breakdown if you don’t have a shower more than once a week. their facilities like prisons and psychiatric wards where those patients have showers every day where they can refuse, but have to have a shower every two days your contract should be reviewed and updated so that patients receive a shower more than once a week you’re dealing with people who are incontinent and definitely need a shower more than once a week please look in to your contract and make this more reasonable for your patients

Having worked in this facility for a few years and my Mom a resident there, I can say that the greatest need is for more help. For the most part, the staff are caring, compassionate people. (Many were like family). I believe most of them do the best they can with what they have. The facility is beautiful and the Activities department is great, and fully engaged. I do get the negative reviews about lights not given prompt attention, but again, not enough people to help. I do recommend this facility if you are considering a home for your loved one. I do get the negative reviews about lights not given prompt attention, but again, not enough people to help. I do recommend this facility if you are considering a home for your loved one. HOWEVER, as I came to realize with my own Mom, (and this is key) I had to become part of the team! I checked in every day with her by phone and visited a few times a week. I made her bed when I visited if it was unmade, cleaned her room, brought her special meals and took her out occasionally. I stayed engaged in her care. I didn't leave her entire care on staff. The atmosphere is good. Family Just has to stay involved.

Summit Village is a beautiful facility, with some very caring employees. That said staff shortages are a constant problem. Emergency buttons in assisted living and call buttons in Skilled Nursing go unanswered or are answered after extended delays leaving residents without the use of the bathroom. In skilled nursing, there seems to be no routine daily care for a patient on end of life care. (While it is true that patients can decline care and meals, experienced and caring staff know how to encourage residents to accept at least what will prevent additional and unnecessary suffering. That does not seem to happen here.) The state of the resident we visit and their room is concerning. Trash, soiled incontinence products on the bed and the resident, multiple untouched meal trays and more are common. The most heart breaking is our resident whispering, “I am hungry.” with multiple untouched meal trays within reach but the ability to self-feed is no longer there and no one seemed to notice.

The care in skilled nursing is not there. Residents wait, sometimes more than an hour to receive help to the bathroom. (On numerous occasions family members have had to tell a current resident to just go in the disposable brief because help just didn’t come and family present was unable to move the poor mortified person) Daily basic care for patients receiving end of live care: washing, oral care, shaving, help to eat and drink is not there. Lack of adequate number of staff, and lack of training and heart in some staff members makes this a sad situation. I fear for the resident I visit there.

My mother was in assisted living for 6 years and loved her room and the staff. We were able to meet and connect with them. Very loving caring people. She spent a short time in skilled nursing, where she received excellent care. When she was placed in comfort care she not only received the best care but her family did also. They put up with her large family and offered us so much comfort. I want to thank the caring community they are for everything they did for our family. ❤️

I would give 0 stars if it let me. This place is the most horrible nursing home I have seen. I am a former CNA with over 4 years experience ina nuring home setting and over 6 of in home care. I cannot believe how badly residents are being treated at The Summit. I cannot not give specific details for fear of even worse treatment to my family member. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!! If I could, I would move her anywhere but here.

If you are someone who has their wits about them, can do their own banking, can even take care of their own medications and give it to themselves properly, and also one who likes to ask questions and be informed, this is not the place for you or your loved ones. The people that they want at their facility, are the loved ones that want to just dump their family in a place and have no further contact. Where the resident has no control over anything and they have total control. They don't seem to understand nor will they abide by New York State Law. They handout paperwork that they themselves do not go by what is written on it, nor do they like to go by signed agreements. They don't even allow the Ombudsman to do their job, even when it's written in their signed agreement. It doesn't even phase them, when they get citations from the NYS Department of Health. They seem to think that a supervisor from the Ombudsman office is going to keep them safe because they have family staying there. Administration, including the VP of Long-Term Care, will lie to your face and allow threats to be made by the administrator. They are afraid of the truth coming out. They like to put $$$, when private pay is a lot more, $$$$ and they want more on top of that, making it closer to $$$$$. This place is all about the money. They don't seem to care that they have a fast turnout of employees, so not always enough staff to take care of the residents. My suggestion to anyone thinking about this place is there a residence, make sure you have a recording of every conversation you have with administratio and aides and nurses. They also don't seem to care about Hippa laws, and we want to conduct business in public places, or leave your door open so that people outside and any of those that have their doors open can hear what's going on. They may even leave things tape to your door that have very important information on them like your social security number, for anyone to stop and look at. I would also have an attorney on standby and of course the number to the New York State Department Hotline. Have a camera in your room at all times, they have been known to go into your room when you're at a doctor's appointment for no good reason. Do not allow them to handle your money, or take the possibility of losing your money. I would seriously look at other places than this one. Beware at All Times.
