Gurwin Jewish - Fay J. Lindner Residences

Our mother lived in Florida and we helped her move to an independent living facility at the age of 89. After 11 years at the wonderful age of 100, she needed more services and wanted to move back to be closer to family on Long Island, NY. After some visits and research at local Assisted Living facilities she became a resident of the Gurwin Assisted Living facility in Commack. Both our mother and her family are so happy that she is living at Gurwin. When asked how she likes her new housing she always says “I love it here.” The entire staff is competent and friendly. They have many activities for residents and the facility is clean and well maintained. Special appreciation to the nursing staff, administration, support personnel, and food service professionals. Having reached 100 years of age she has earned the right to live well in a caring and respectful community and that is what she has at Gurwin Assisted Living.

I, as a long distance caregiver, feel so confident about the care my mom is getting at the Wellness Center at Gurwin Assisted living. The doctor there has called me several times to follow up on mom's issues and test results; keeping me in the loop and allowing me to be part of decision making (which overwhelms my mother). The doctor speaks with such care and thought, but also shows patience with me and my questions, and mom and her stories. My mother is so happy to be at Gurwin and keeps telling me how lucky she feels. Mom is always talking about how kind and caring the staff is and she loves the programming. They post photos and highlights of things happening there so I get to see what's going on.
