Resident & family reviews

Since my sister has been moved here from Delaware Oaks she is a new person. She is under Hospice care and everyone involved with her is wonderful. Her aide is tremendous. She braids her hair, makes she is clean and dressed nice. She even brings her Tim Hortons coffee. The staff are all kind and welcoming.

One star for the night staff, one star for the PT staff. Daytime aides and nurses are rude residents, it's more of a nursing home than a rehab facility. However, the PT department gets high marks for its professionalism and compassionate Care. Food was absolutely horrible, always delivered late and cold. Rude, immature aides, however, some were delightful. Would not choose again.

Garden Gate has very professional and knowable staff. They took great care of many of my family members over the years. I would highly recommend this facility.

Staff is nice night is better 4hen mornings

The last five months of my 91 year old father’s precious life were lived and celebrated at Garden Gate. Getting older is tough physically, mentally and spiritually for everyone involved. It is not for the faint of heart! The nurses and staff are warriors for the people in their care! My family and I always had peace of mind knowing he was being taken care of by dedicated loving staff! Is it perfect? No, nothing is but they come close! We were so blessed to have Rachel and her coworkers! God bless them all!

Garden Gate has been a wonderful place to be during my rehab for my hip I had replaced. The staff is caring and professional in all they do. Prompt on answering lights when you need help. The food is really good flavorful and portions are plenty. Therapists really work in getting strong for home life again. So if you are in need of a nice rehab to stay on your journey from surgery give this place a whirl!

I was at Garden Gate for 3 1/2 months in 2023 due to a blood clot in my right leg resulting in a fasciotomy and several surgeries after that. The food was horrible (thankfully, having a flip phone, I found an Asian place that could deliver without a smart phone app). I received 3 or 4 showers my entire time there; I was told that there wasn't enough staff to give showers every week. So, I had to give myself sponge baths everyday. Many of the long-term residents there were probably not even capable of that, and the smell in the hallways confirmed that. Most of the nurses were decent and some of the aids were okay (Kim with the tatoos was great), but some should not have been in the health care profession. I was given a room meant to monitor heart patients as it was their only open room and well, money talks. After a month certain people started pressuring me to change rooms. As I had gotten lucky in that it was a single occupant room and after I had acclimated myself to this little living space/prison, I refused. Eventually, I compromised and told them if they got a heart patient I would then switch, which thankfully never happened. More fun stuff included my next door neighbor (I still had to share a bathroom) clogging our toilet filling half of my room with toilet bowl water. Another time, I had a flying ant invasion in my room around 3 am; myself and an aid fought them for an hour!!! Still, a few stragglers remained and kept landing on my bed - I didn't get to sleep until 6 am. I have nothing but praise for the physical therapy staff, especially Tim and Lisa and my night nurse for part of the week, Kelly, was an angel and the aid working with her (whose name I forget) was also very good. If I ever have to reside in a place like Garden Gate long-term, I might just end it right there and then.

My Dad was at Garden Gate for a few months until his recent passing. The staff were very attentive to his needs. I’m sure it was challenging at times to provide him care. Not once did I witness staff to be anything but patient and compassionate. The communication with staff when we had questions or concerns was done in a very timely manner. The last time that I visited my Dad he wanted to go for a tour around the building in his wheelchair. Everyone we ran into along the way said hello to him by name. It was comforting to know he wasn’t just a number. Thank you Garden Gate❤️
