My mother was a resident at The Artis of Somers for about a year and a half. We had such a wonderful experience with your facility on every level from her intake to her passing. The staff there are beyond caring and respectful of the residents. They are truly amazing people. From the Director, to the Wellness Director and Nursing staff, the visiting Physician, the Activities Director, and all the staff that provide the day to day care - each person was truly kind and went out of their way to treat our mom with dignity and respect. Caretakers would frequently dress her in nice clothes and do her hair with care. When visiting I would often be stopped by the staff and told stories or kind words about my mom - clearly showing that they care and know her. After she passed, one of the staff helped us to pack her room and told stories to us and was so kind he commented about how he would miss her and it was very touching. Placing my mom in The Artis was a blessing for all of us. It took the burden and fear for my mothers safety off of my family's shoulders and my mother truly flourished while there. She was the happiest she has been in years. Although she could not articulate her comfort, it was readily apparent by her demeanor that she felt safe, cared for and loved every day. The staff at the facility truly made her final years happy and dignified. I only wish every person had the luxury of experiencing such a safe and caring place for their final years.
I visited Artis Senior Living of Somers on Monday and was pleased to see how engaged the residents were with the Artis team. Seeing all the smiles leave a lasting impression.
My father has moved in a week ago and the location is gorgeous. The food speaks for itself my father was not eating properly for such a very long time and now he sits down and eats the whole meal with friends that he met. He has only been there a week, but every staff member greets him with his name and is always cheerful and engaging. I feel like he is safe and well taken care of. The afternoon aide, Sharon is sweet, always engaging and Extremely safety minded. This is the first week in two years that I leave my father and feel like he will be just fine. Taking care of a person with dementia is a job that one person really cannot do. Giving up control is hard but once it is done, It is truly a relief. Thank you Artis

I had many wonderful experiences at Artis of Somers! The executive director, Terry, is exceptionally caring, empathetic, and helpful. The cheerful front desk staff creates a welcoming atmosphere. Their innovative memory care program truly stands out as they go above and beyond for every resident. Highly recommended! Allie Hauser
Pretty facility, good food. Disorganized, dangerous. The facility has told my mother's doctor and the nurses on staff that I am NOT her Healthcare Proxy repeatedly over 5 months. I am her daughter, I am a medical doctor and I was legally designated by my mother to be her healthcare proxy 15 years ago. This lasts indefinitely in NY State unless changed by the patient. My siblings and I have clarified this point and sent the paperwork to Artis multiple times. Many phone conversations. I was assured this has been taken care of and that the correct information is in her chart. It still is not. Staff has hung up on me when I have called for my mother's labs and medication list. Their nursing staff continues to tell me "I can't talk to you about" her healthcare. Their doctor asked me "what do you want?" when I called to address healthcare needs that were not addressed. This aggressive, poor communication is getting in the way of my mother's care. It is also not lawful as I have been legally designated by my mother (who now has dementia and needs assistance with decisionmakeing) to be her healthcare proxy and advocate. They are so disorganized that this is how they care for their residents and treat residents' families??? I would not recommend.
Alls 5's, we are so happy with Artis! All residents are memory care. Fairly small which is nice so everyone is close and knows everybody. New facility. Bright and clean.
All are 5 , Artis is amazing. The care the staff the activities. Rooms are a comfortable size for 1 person with their own private bathroom. Pluses you can bring your own furnishings if you want and decorate to personal taste. Rooms are kept clean by staff on a daily basis. Meals always smell good and look great. My father in law has also commented on how good the food is at Artis. They also have snacks and juice available anytime and the residents can help themselves if they wish or a staff member can assist if needed.
Artis Senior Living has been a godsend for me. My brother is always clean, his room is always clean, and the staff makes sure he participates in activities. The staff are wonderful and very communicative, calling me frequently with updates on him during his first month there and anytime something unusual happens thereafter. The atmosphere is very warm and intimate, not institutional. I highly recommend this facility if memory care is needed.
