Long read ahead but it might help you to make better decisions regarding your health. The unprofessionalism of VNS is literally life threatening. I requested a nurse and home health aide 2 weeks before my surgery date. The Monday of that week, with the surgery scheduled that Thursday, I confirmed with VNS coordinator, Kumar that everything was approved and set up. Twenty minutes before I was about to go into surgery, I realized that no one had contacted me and didn't know if the nurse was going to meet me either at the physician's office or my home so I called VNS. They informed me that they were still working on getting approvals from my insurance company and I'm sure you can guess how livid I was. Recovery from my procedure involved almost 24 hour care for the first 3 days and I'm informed literally moments before the surgery that I'm on my own!! The following day, a nurse came to my home but only just to interview me to see if I was a good candidate. This wasn't a job interview!! After I asked when would an aide be coming by, the nurse said that they only had approvals for a nurse and that they would need to reach out to the insurance company to get approved for the aide. But of course since it was now Friday afternoon, that couldn't get started on until Monday morning. I asked him to leave immediately as this was now a complete waste of my time. Thank God for God and my friends for getting me through that first weekend. Nothing on earth could get me to ever reach out to VNS and I hope you won't either.
