I would never recommend The Brightonian to anyone looking for a safe place for a loved one. The living conditions are unacceptable. There were mice throughout the facility, including around food storage areas, and food was left exposed to contamination. Seeing evidence of rodents anywhere near residents or food is alarming and completely unacceptable for a nursing home. The leadership was just as concerning. Management came across as disorganized, unprofessional, and unwilling to address serious issues in a timely manner. Staff concerns and resident safety did not seem to receive the…

Seeing evidence of rodents anywhere near residents or food is alarming and completely unacceptable for a nursing home. The leadership was just as concerning. Management came across as disorganized, unprofessional, and unwilling to address serious issues in a timely manner. Staff concerns and resident safety did not seem to receive the attention they deserved, creating an environment that felt neglected rather than cared for. Families trust nursing homes to provide a clean, safe, and dignified place to live. Based on what I personally witnessed, The Brightonian failed to meet those expectations. I have photographs documenting the conditions I observed. I strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to tour it carefully, ask detailed questions about sanitation and pest control, and do their own research before making such an important decision.
The Brightonian should be ashamed of the conditions I witnessed. I would never trust this facility with someone I love. What I personally observed was beyond unacceptable—it was shocking. I saw mouse droppings around food areas, moldy food sitting in refrigerators, and clear signs that rodents had been eating food intended for residents. No human being, especially vulnerable elderly residents, should be living in conditions like this. This is supposed to be a place where families expect safety, dignity, and quality care, yet what I saw looked more like a serious sanitation hazard than a…

No human being, especially vulnerable elderly residents, should be living in conditions like this. This is supposed to be a place where families expect safety, dignity, and quality care, yet what I saw looked more like a serious sanitation hazard than a nursing home. The lack of cleanliness and attention to basic health standards was deeply disturbing. I have photographs documenting the conditions I witnessed, including the rodent droppings, food contamination concerns, and moldy food. These aren’t just minor issues—they raise serious questions about resident health and safety. I hope the appropriate health authorities inspect this facility so residents can receive the clean, safe environment they deserve. If you’re considering this nursing home for a family member, I strongly encourage you to look other places.
Great place for Rehab and staff is awesome. Definitely take your loved ones there if there is a need!
If you need rehabilitation, this is the best place I have been in. They spend more time with you than any place I know of. You get plenty of attention. The medical team and aides were attentive and very pleasant. If I should need rehab again this where I would want to be.
My grandfather had to stay for rehab for about 2 weeks and while on the outside it looks a little "scary" maybe due to the winter and no greenery, it was dated on the inside but very clean. My Grandfather complained that they "checked on him too much" which is a good thing for me as his primary caregiver versus him not being checked on at all. He had a private room and bath and attended PT pretty much 7 days/week. The food was OK to me, he's a picky eater, so he didn't prefer it. He didn't attend any community activities, but they did ask him to join. When I was picking him up at discharge they were cleaning the room across the hall after that resident left, and they were doing a pretty thorough job! We've had my Grandmother (his wife) at the Hurlbut on E. Henrietta Rd, the facility on Behan Rd in Gates which keeps changing names, and Monroe Community Hopsital all for rehab over the last 18 years, so I value people taking the time out to do reviews. Choosing a facility for your loved one is an important task and the reviews I saw led me to choose this facility over the other options Strong provided when my Grandfather was discharged. I'd choose this place again for him if I had to.
We were concerned about leaving Our loved one for rehabilitation because he had a pretty traumatic hospital stay at rgh , however as soon as we stepped foot in this place we felt the love and care in the atmosphere. Everyone is extremely caring, hands on and make you feel like you don't have to worry leaving your loved one with them. I can't understand why this place isn't a higher review ratings. Thank you for taking care of him and being so amazing with him! I definitely recommend this place for your family member if they need rehabilitation!he is doing so much better and his spirits are lifted 🙏🏼💪🏼
Dad was here for rehab, the most amazing staff. They were caring, kind and understanding of dementia care. He was safe and got amazing PT, OT and loved his room, felt like home to him. The nurses and staff went above and beyond to help him get acclimated. It may not be shiny and new but they were amazing. Would definitely recommend especially with older adults that need extra care. Thank you!
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is horrible. Smells, food is inedible, basically you sit and rot. "Nurses" need to be more careful and gentle with patients. Can't get the person out of here fast enough, not letting them stay here to rot. I do not recommend to anyone! Stay away or keep your loved one home. You're better off. Also we did not get a tour of the facility and the reception was to busy on her phone to help with entrance.
