Rosary Hill in Hawthorne, New York, will always hold a sacred place in my heart. During one of the most difficult times in my life, the staff provided my father with not only exceptional care, but genuine love, dignity, and compassion every single day. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that this was more than just a care facility—it was a community rooted in faith, kindness, and deep respect for each person’s journey. The caregivers, nurses, and spiritual staff treated my father as if he were their own family. They were attentive to his physical needs, but just as importantly, they nurtured his emotional and spiritual well-being. What meant the most to us was how they gently helped prepare him for his meeting with God. They ensured he was surrounded by peace, prayer, and comfort. There was a sense of grace in the way they walked alongside him in his final days, honoring his faith and helping him find serenity. As a family, we were supported every step of the way. The staff showed us compassion, patience, and understanding, giving us the space to be present with him while knowing he was in the best possible hands. I am forever grateful to Rosary Hill for the love and care they gave my father. They turned a time of sorrow into something profoundly meaningful, and I will never forget the dignity and tenderness they showed him until the very end.
I would recommend this place over and over and over again. Rosary Hill is truly a wonderful place. The care provided here is phenomenal, with staff who go above and beyond to ensure comfort, dignity, and compassion for every resident. The environment feels peaceful and supportive, making a difficult time much more manageable for both patients and their families. I am deeply grateful for the kindness and dedication shown by everyone at Rosary Hill.

My wife, Mary spent the last five weeks of her Earthly life at this facility after dealing with metastatic breast cancer for seven years. The women who hadn't yet taken their final vows, the CNA's took care of my wife with love and respect. They WERE doing God's work. The housekeeping staff, the activity directors and all the volunteers as well. The nurses, not as well but reasonably professional. The administration - Not so much! When my wife expressed a concern she had for her safety I followed the procedure and went to the nurse on duty. NO was her answer. Nothing like this happens. I went to Sister Damien's admissions receptionist, Joann. I heard from her, "DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO?!" Sister Damien told me brusquely everything is fine and my wife was drugged, dreaming or otherwise creating something out of nothing. Sister Stella, the main administrator, listened to what I had to say and did her best to put me off. Not one of these expressed and wish to speak with my wife and I felt that there was NO empathy shown and perhaps little respect. I only saw what appeared to be closing ranks and loyalty to the order (Cult?). The receptionist I can forgive because I know she's a recent convert to the Catholic faith and I have seen that this creates a certain over zealousness in the time after confirmation. The lack of respect and/or empathy by the sisters I find reprehensible though. Another issue was that the nurses would not allow my wife to leave the bed, instead telling her to defecate in place. and they could clean it afterward. They claimed this was a matter of the Foley catheter and that she was a fall risk. I had been my wife's caregiver for several months and was able to get her properly to the toilet. My feeling was that was contrary to the idea of death with dignity. Please understand that this is my opinion based upon my recollection of the events that took place more than three months ago, but I am quite sure I have accurately described the events.
My teaching colleague and long time friend is currently living at Rosary Hill. It is such a wonderful home for him. The staff both religious and civilian are extraordinary. My friend is lucky to be surrounded by such incredible people. The grounds are lovely and manicured. We bring our dear friend outside every visit to sit and chat and play his favorite music. I think Rosary Hill is such a Godsend for him and his family.💓🙏
My dad was there for about 3 weeks before he passed and there really are no words to describe how wonderful this facility and the sisters and staff are. It is SPOTLESSLY clean inside and out . The level of care and communication provided by the staff was phenomenal. This was an incredibly difficult time for me but just knowing my dad was there gave me a little bit of peace knowing he was not suffering and all his needs were being taken care of. Someone else mentioned angels walking on earth in a previous review - I couldn't have said it better myself .
Rosary Hill made me believe that there are literal angels walking this earth. Every person that works at and volunteers for this facility is incredible. They took incredible care of my Father during his 2 month stay. They are so professional and have a bedside manner that I have never experienced before even when nearing the end. Sisters Rita Marie and Michaela were so attentive and proactive in keeping me completely in the loop with any chances with my Dad. Kurtis a male nurse was one of my Dad's and my favorite humans and has left a deep impression on me to be better. He was so human during this process and you do not realize what a blessing that is until you're in it. I can truly never thank the Dominican Sisters and every single human being that walks the halls of this facility. I hope more facilities like this open so more people in a hospice situation (patient and family) can experience what selfless and pure care giving looks like.
My wife passed away in February of 2023 from pancreatic cancer. She spent her last thirteen weeks at Rosary Hill Home. The sisters are the most compassionate and empathetic people I've ever encountered. In addition they're trained nurses and nurses' aides. The building is spotless, the care is exceptionally responsive and attentive. Sister Rita Marie prepared our family for my wife's final days in a dignified soothing manner. I can't say enough good things about Rosary Hill home.
