My experiences at Ontario Center have always been great. I come representing a local Catholic Church, so I often have questions of who, what and where. The staff is always right at my service in a most kind and caring way. I thank you all for that and I look forward to many more years of working with all my friends at Ontario Center, and that includes all the staff and the residents!!! God bless you all, Bob Hill
My Sister and my partner has been at this facility. The care was supportive, friendly, They would go out of their way to be so helpful. My sister was quite the loner of a person till she went there. She made friends! Started going to crafts , looked forward to their Bible studies. It was a remarkable change for her. It is a wonderful place to help your loved one. So many thanks to all the staff that works there.
Been here 3 days of an unfortunate 8 week rehab for various surgeries on my diabetic feet and speaking of diabetes, I AM TYPE 2 DIABETIC, and this morning of my 3rd day they FINALLY took my sugar and it was 157 and they had the gull to say it was Great! This place is definitely run by the "GRAND" even though they say that they are not.
My husband is staying at the Ontario Complex Bldg for “rehab” (PT) to help him get stronger & more stable on his feet. The staff here are very polite & accommodating. I appreciate each & everyone there. Thank you
My friend checked into Ontario Center on Thursday, March 19th for short‑term rehab. She was only there for a day and a half before she ended up in the emergency room and then admitted to the hospital — and after what I witnessed, I’m not surprised. What happened to her, and what I personally saw inside this facility, was neglectful, degrading, and dangerous. Food & Nutrition: Absolutely unacceptable The director, Aaron, told my friend in person that the entire facility would not have fresh fruit until April. For an entire building of patients, that is shocking. My friend is a bodybuilder with a very clean diet — grilled chicken, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and fresh fruit. Instead, they tried to serve her mashed potatoes, bread, and a tablespoon of “mystery meat.” She refused to eat because the food was not nutritious or appropriate for her medical needs. While I was there bringing her real food, multiple patients came to the kitchen saying they were hungry and couldn’t eat what they were being served. One man kept going to the vending machine because he said the food was awful. Neglect & Unsafe Conditions My friend passed out from extreme discomfort and lack of proper care. Her boyfriend had to demand they call 911. She improved immediately once she was out of that facility. The staff did not read her chart. A travel nurse from Florida was the only person who actually reviewed it — and she confirmed that my friend’s needs were clearly documented and completely ignored. The facility smelled strongly of urine throughout the second floor. It was disturbing and unsanitary. Basic Care Failures - She was told she could only shower twice a week, which is unacceptable for any patient, let alone someone recovering from a medical condition. - A roommate had her bandage changed with the curtain open, giving her no privacy. - That same roommate told me she had pressed her call button an hour earlier and no one came. I found a nurse eating outside her room. - When I reported it, I was told “she’s on her way,” but the lack of urgency was alarming. Staff Behavior The nurse supervisor on Friday night, Andrea, was eating chips and had cake in front of her while my friend was explaining she was in severe pain. Another staff member in scrubs was literally falling asleep at the desk. When my friend asked for the medication she needed — medication clearly listed in her chart — she was told: “Well, call 911. You’ll go to the hospital and lose your bed. It may or may not be available when you come back.” That felt more like a threat than support. Overall Impression This facility is understaffed, unprofessional, and unsafe. The lack of care, lack of nutrition, lack of privacy, and lack of basic human decency is horrifying. I would not send a loved one here under any circumstances. People deserve dignity, proper nutrition, and timely medical attention — none of which were provided. I am reporting this facility to the appropriate channels so an investigation can be done. No one should have to experience what my friend went through.
My sister nearly lost her life this past weekend due to the negligence at this facility and I want everyone to know. She is not elderly. She is a young woman temporarily in their care due to an injury. She deserved basic, attentive medical care. What she received instead was dangerous neglect so severe that the ER staff who treated her explicitly told her she should not return to this facility or her life would be at risk. When a hospital's emergency team warns a patient not to go back somewhere, that says everything. The director (I believe his name is Aaron) showed a complete lack of concern for patient welfare whenever she voiced any need. That kind of leadership sets the tone for an entire facility and it shows. The problems are systemic: understaffing, undertrained personnel, and an unsafe patient-to-nurse ratio. Not every staff member is the problem some clearly care but good individuals cannot overcome bad systems and negligent leadership. This is not a one-star review out of frustration. This is a warning. Do not place your loved ones here. If you have family currently in this facility, please check on them especially if they cannot fully advocate for themselves. I am actively reporting this to the New York State Department of Health and urge others who have had similar experiences to do the same. Facilities like this only change when they are held accountable.
The aides, nurses, etc are very friendly. My husband’s room is clean. His physical therapy is going well
This facility is by far the worst health related facility either of us had ever stepped foot into in our life. In less than 18 hrs ( my father was sent there for rehab) on 2/19 @ 3pm and we decided very easily on 2/20 @ 8am that we would be leaving. The incompetence, uncleanliness, and experience was by far so below a minimal expectation of care one could expect. Beware, and at all costs never think of entering or having anyone you know be admitted to this facility under any circumstances! I wouldn't even give it a star, except it wont allow me to submit it without one!
