4.3 · 22 reviewsI visited with my brother and I live out of state, I was so pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the patients. I could see that he felt safe there and with the caregivers. I could also see the staff taking care of other patients and they were treated with respect and care. It would be nice if our government provided more funds so the staff was not so stretched out. I left very relieved that he had people who cared for his everyday wellbeing. Grateful

Moving my father out of our home was a difficult decision made for his own safety. The staff at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose made his transition as smooth as possible. Over the past year they have given him quality care and have shown authentic caring and concern for my father. Everyone there consistently demonstrates professionalism and honest caring for his well-being in all interactions, both with us and with him. Knowing that he is in a clean, safe, caring environment is something that he and we are truly grateful for!
My family member suffers from dementia, so it is essential for me to have communication with the staff. The nurses and social workers always respond quickly to all of my questions or concerns. My family member is well-cared for and treated with respect. All staff members are warm and friendly and know their clients well.
I wish our family had known that the culture at Montrose nursing home was so closed to the community and outside visitors. Veterans who call the Montrose nursing home their home are not recognized, treated, and celebrated as they deserve to be. There were more than a dozen unanswered grievances found during the September 2023 VA survey because the Montrose administration was just ignoring them, instead of addressing them, as federal and NYS regulations state. Is this because this is a NYS Department of Health state-run veterans’ home? Don't these veterans and their spouses deserve to have oversight into their complaints? Montrose has a big, beautiful fish tank and spotless floors: these are more important than being resident centered. Residents deserve better!
I just want to thank everyone for everything you do for my dad - he’s a very happy man. We appreciate everything you do for him.
The Montrose Health care team is a group of highly dedicated professionals. They provide the highest quality of care. The Residents there are treated as family. I was able to sleep at night knowing my family member was receiving the best care possible. One cannot say enough about their health care team. Everyone in every department treats the Residents like family. God bless each and everyone of them.
