Our experience with Kirkhaven has been extremely concerning, particularly because our family member was admitted for skilled nursing and rehabilitation while non-weight-bearing and needing assistance with mobility and transfers. From the beginning, there were problems. He was placed in Room 208, where the air conditioning was not working and the temperature reached approximately 86 degrees. We asked for a fan and were told there were none available. The TV also did not work, which was certainly not our primary concern, but added to the feeling that the room had not been properly prepared for…
Our experience with Kirkhaven has been extremely concerning, particularly because our family member was admitted for skilled nursing and rehabilitation while non-weight-bearing and needing assistance with mobility and transfers. From the beginning, there were problems. He was placed in Room 208, where the air conditioning was not working and the temperature reached approximately 86 degrees. We asked for a fan and were told there were none available. The TV also did not work, which was certainly not our primary concern, but added to the feeling that the room had not been properly prepared for a new resident. More importantly, the level of care has been extremely troubling. He has received little to no assistance getting to the bathroom or safely transferring, despite the fact that this is one of the primary reasons he requires skilled nursing care. He is non-weight-bearing and should not have to choose between attempting to manage these things himself or simply remaining in bed. Medications have repeatedly been administered 2–3 hours late. On Sunday, he pressed his call button approximately five times over a period of about 2½ hours and no one responded. For someone who cannot safely get up and go to the bathroom independently, that is not simply inconvenient—it is a serious safety concern. We also had concerns about nursing coverage on his first night at the facility and the ability to have his medications administered appropriately. I understand that healthcare facilities can be busy and that staffing challenges exist. However, when a person is admitted to a skilled nursing facility specifically because they cannot safely care for themselves independently, timely medications, assistance with toileting and transfers, and a reasonable response to a call bell are basic expectations. Based on our experience so far, I would strongly encourage families considering Kirkhaven for rehabilitation or skilled nursing care to ask detailed questions about staffing, call-bell response times, medication administration, and how much hands-on assistance their family member will actually receive.
I want to let management at Kirkhaven know what a special, professional, multifaceted employee Jun is. My brother has been at Kirkhaven for the past 10 plus years and Jun has been a constant. He has helped me solve some issues concerning my brother even though it wasn’t in his purview of duties. Along with being helpful to families of patients I have seen him rebuild the stone garden wall, direct and watch the parking lot, repair different railings on the first floor and any number of other projects. Jun is truly a great person and a “can do” type of employee. Kirkhaven is VERY lucky to have…

If you're looking for professionalism look elsewhere. Although they have some very competent staff the attention to important details is lacking. Missteps are not infrequent. Under staffing is not infrequent. Long response time was not infrequent and in fact as long as 9 hours. In good conscience I cannot recommend. Management it seems to me are more focused on the business end and that's a problem. As an example I requested to be showered multiple times. It kept being put off when the shower was right next door. NOT Excusable! On more than one occasion I had to throw a mini tantrum to get…

I witnessed the relative of one residence almost turn to violence he was so upset at his mother's treatment. My doctor just informed me that I was misdiagnosed and Kirkhaven was giving me the wrong medicine for a week. I received a large bill today after being told all of my expenses would be covered.
I have had to deal with nursing homes off and on for the past couple of years. It is too soon to write a full review of the facility but I do want to acknowledge the social worker I have been working with. Jacquie has been very helpful and patient while dealing with my family member.
I am truly grateful for the exceptional care provided at this nursing home, especially under the leadership of Administrator Cyndee. She has dedicated her life to ensuring that every resident is comfortable and treated with the utmost respect and kindness. What stands out most is how residents are treated like family, particularly during holidays or times when their own family cannot be nearby. Cyndee and her team go above and beyond to accommodate the personal needs and preferences of each resident, creating a warm and welcoming environment. It’s clear that this facility is not just a place to live but a community where compassion and quality care are top priorities. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a nursing home where residents truly feel cared for and valued.
Kirkhaven is a wonderful place. They take very good care of their residents and overall a beautiful place to be on park ave. The atmosphere and general sense of community is what makes Kirkhaven great. Always a clean facility too. Thank you Kirkhaven staff for all that you do.
Excellent facility with expert leadership and genuine care for those they serve!
All staff were friendly, attentative, in good spirits, efficient as possible and patient with my mom. Food was set for mom's nutritional needs. Dr. even sat to talk to us at length on a Sunday. Great place all around.
