Essex Center

Essex center is horrible. It is seriously under staffed. They very seldom answer their phone and when they do you can expect to be on hold for at least fifteen to thirty minutes. The staff seems apathetic to the needs of the residents. There has been cases of food poisoning. They left a patient lying on a stretcher for over three hours instead of returning her to her bed. They ignored her cries of pain and would not give her any pain medication. This place should be closed and the staff arrested for elderly abuse.

This is my second time submitting a review. This place needs some major work in all regards. Staffing, supplies, rehab and food wise. Today is Thanksgiving and our meal consisted of a processed chicken sandwich and a tiny scoop of instant potatoes and unappealing stuffing with no dessert. I chose not to eat the food to avoid getting sick.

This place is dirty disgusting and doesn't take care of your patients I'm one of those patients. I just hope I don't die while I'm in here

Hello I would like to start out with thanking Jesse the social worker for everything she did for our family . She truly cared not only about David’s needs but our family needs as well. She took the time to call me or catch up with me in the building to chat with me let me know how things were going . She truly has a heart for this kind of work . I couldn’t thank her enough for moving my father in law closer to home . Also David had a special aide that always went above and beyond for David her name is Latrese . She was amazing with david and our family as well. I would like to say that we had a terrible time in Glen falls hospital they drugged David up lied to us and would lie when we asked what they were giving him for meds . When it became time to move David to rehab/ long term care Jeremy the liason for centers was TERRIBLE . He wouldn’t answer even one phone call or email from myself . I politely asked in email an phone message to call me back please even if he couldn’t help to just let me know. Not one phone call or email back . He made it none to many administrators that he didn’t care that David was hour an half away from family not to mention 75 miles one way . I have worked in medical many years and know alot of people and there were beds closer to our home. Yet again Jermey didn’t care and wasn’t willing to meet with our family yet alone answer a phone call . I pray he never has a close family member that needs nursing home help and they send them far away . Jesse god love her sat with me while I cried and told her that this wasn’t easy he lived with my boyfriend (his son) and I for years we took care of him . It was so hard to work an drive there everyday he was use to being with us . What might sound odd to some but we had a routine my boyfriend put him to bed everynight and that meant a lot to both of them . When my boyfriend got up there it was late sometimes he was already in bed . But nights he could put him to bed his dad cried and held onto him it was the sadest thing . But again Jesse fought hard for us , she has a huge heart and cares about her residents and there family along with there well being . I find it disgusting that Jeremy is in the position he is in this type field he has no heart and truly doesn’t care about the family either . Thanks again Essex for all your help, love and support during our difficult time . You all have become family to us !
