My dad in May was at a facility in East Aurora for rehab. The staff sat around. Had to ask for bed to be made. 2 days in had unexplained scratch’s on his head. Day of discharge cellulitis. During frequent visits during his stay in rehab seemed to be not himself. Brought him home and would not sleep at all. Pacing etc. he just was not himself. This went on for over a month. Took this long for him to be his normal. Fast forward he was at elderwoid in Grand Island for a 2 week respite. When I went to pick him up he knew my husband and me immediately . This was 8/10/26. Brought him home and he is not agitated or not sleeping at normal for him. I really thought there would be a problem. While elderwoid may not be the prettiest facility the staff seemed very engaged in the patients there. I would have given this a 5 but needs some sprucing up. I would put my dad there again even though we are coming from Holland. Hope this helps.
I cannot thank this facility enough for helping my mother overcome cellulitis. They brought her from not being able to walk, to walking with a walker and now successfully living in an assisted living facility. The place is clean, and the staff is wonderful!
I was discharged from this facility today. From the receptionist to the administrator and everyone in between, I was dealt with kindness and professionalism. Nothing is 100%, but it was close. If I ever need their help again, I would go back in a heartbeat. If I needed anything, within reason, they provided it. They were encouraging and cheered my accomplishments. The surroundings were clean and the decor was cheerful and tastefully done. Whatever issues they had, based on previous reviews, they seem to have been resolved. Based on previous experiences with other Elderwood facilities, I was hesitant about going there and I'm happy that I did. I must give kudos to the therapy department. They're awesome, whether they worked with me individually or if we were just in the gym. They liked the music I would listen to while working out so they automatically got a gold star 🌟 I would recommend them to anyone needing their services. Thank you Elderwood on Grand Island, keep up the good work!
No one usually leaves your view when everything's going good he's been a few other facilities and this one has got to rape at one of the top tears they take care of the people they're very attentive they changed my father right away people always leave bad reviews when they have a bad experience but no one ever gives good reviews when things are going good I like to say that it is what it is but you know you're never going to be happy with any kind of care unless you're doing it yourself but this place and to say it doesn't as well as I would do it
My wife was moved there for acute rehab. Was only there for 5 days when sha passed away. But Atasha a nurse assistant dud a wonderful with my wife and Christine the social worker was just as good in helping my family with everything. I want to give a very special thank you to both of them.
It's a nursing home you dont.buy anything
Very bad experience will never recommend. Gave medication that should never have!!
I was in rehab at G.I.Elderwood for about a month following hip surgery. The PT & OT were excellent, skilled and fun, they worked me hard but encouragingly and worked hard for me. The nursing staff was professional but somewhat understaffed. The care aid situation was terrible, severely understaffed and to an alarming degree unprofessional. I know there was, and still is, a shortage in aids but, when I was there at least, the aid to patient ratio was way too low and the pro : lazy or rude ratio about 1:3. I was unable to stand or walk unassisted for the first week or so and was left for over an hour on the john or sitting half dressed on the side of my bed for over an hour on several occasions. I had breakfast trays left on a chair across the room several times, I was never given a shower during my entire stay but did get my hair washed twice. The poor food was a blessing in disguise, I lost 27 lbs during my stay. Sadly, I know there are worse places, but this location needs to provide better patient care. Loved my inmates though!
