It’s unfortunate that the director Chris has come from a ymca setting and has no experience with senior citizens especially those with dementia. Brookdale smells like urine. Extremely understaffed. They pay the for care aides is $16-17 hr. Med tech $18 .McDonald’s pays more !. This is a private pay facility there is no way the pay should be this low. These residents should have top notch care- and excellent food and a spotless facility that smells great! There should also be a housekeeper on weekends. A housekeeper that is capable of cleaning the facility.
We visited Brookdale East Side and toured for assisted living. The overall experience was very, very good. We liked where the community was located and the people we met. The man who did the tour for us was wonderful in letting us speak with people who work there and some of the people who live there. I was free to ask questions. Everything was very clean, so we're very happy. We also saw the dining area, and it was lovely. I was so impressed because the tables all had tablecloths, so it wasn't like a cafeteria. It was a very nice dining room.
#1. 2 --everything was good until Mom got sick; #2. 4 --The dining room floor was still dirty several hours after the meal ended 4; #3. 3--staff was very friendly and helpful until Mom got sick then they only spoke to us when we showed up in person. #4. 2--I did not feel that enough was done to make Mom feel comfortable about leaving her room so she stayed in her room all of the time. #5. 3--very helpful when getting us signed up but once Mom got sick there was no contact. #6. 5--Mom seemed to like the meals and snacks. #7. 4--there seemed to be a variety of interesting activities but Mom…

The rooms were attractive. Very community centered.
Ed went on a tour of facilities. He got bored really easy and went back to Brookdale East Side after moving to two other facilities he said Brookdale East Side was home. He loved it there. he really like Kristen and Chris
I toured Brookdale East Side assisted living and that was very pleasant. The people that I spoke with were very pleasant and accommodating and I enjoyed it. I really liked the layout too. I saw all 3 different layouts of rooms, and they all seemed very adequate. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. I just didn't feel quite as comfortable as I did at the other place I visited. I also had lunch there. The food was good and the choices were definitely adequate.
My mom is currently a resident at Brookdale East Side and the experience has been great for her so far. Everything has worked out great. Based on our experience, I would recommend Brookdale East Side to others as an option for care for their loved one.
All of these facilities are not perfect but when they tell you certain things will happen make sure you get it in writing. There are times that they forget to do things. ie.. showers, late with meds. I would recommend them but with caution to ask and re-ask. No facility is perfect. When you have a loved one that is used to being on their own and then relying on other people it can be challenging.
My loved one is a resident at Brookdale East Side. I would recommend this facility to others. The food is just okay. The housekeeping is good. I love the staff, they are very on top of things.
